Letter from the Principal
Brookwood Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I write my message today in the wake of the tragic event that unfolded this week in one of our neighboring counties. The news has left us all deeply saddened and shaken. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Apalachee High School victims, the families, the students, staff, administration, and the entire Barrow County community affected by this tragedy.
In times like these, it is essential that we come together as a community to support one another. We recognize that many of you and your children, no matter their age, may be experiencing a range of emotions—fear, anger, confusion, and sadness. Please know that we are here to support you. Our counselors and support staff are available for anyone who needs someone to talk to or just a comforting presence to process these heavy thoughts and emotions.
We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every member of our school community. In light of this tragedy, we want to reassure you that we will continue to review and strengthen our safety protocols. The safety of our students and staff is our utmost priority. I am very grateful for our district’s commitment to providing a school resource officer on every campus. We are so lucky to have Officer Russell with us every day.
We encourage parents to have open and honest conversations with their children. It is important to listen to their concerns and reassure them that we are doing everything we can to keep our school a safe place for learning and growth.
Together, we will continue to foster a safe and supportive environment where our students can thrive.
We are in this together.
Love,
Mrs. Moity

A Message from the Counselors
Hello parents! We hope you enjoyed your long weekend with family and friends! Here at Brookwood, we are teaching Kindness and Good Decision Making in our Bobcat Connect classes.
We believe Kindness is always a Good Decision! Here is a kindness calendar with something kind you can do with your kids daily until December! We want to see kind bobcats making good decisions all over campus. This aligns with our ROAR expectations of Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn!
Ms. Miotti and Mrs. McLeod
FCS Digital Citizenship - Neptune Navigate
Forsyth County Schools is partnering with Neptune Navigate to provide lessons focusing on digital citizenship. Each month will dig into a different topic. During the month of September, students will be learning about Digital Citizenship. Our goal is to teach students to be Respectful and Responsible when using technology and engaging online so they will be Ready to Learn.
Would you like to continue the conversation at home? Here are some questions you may ask your elementary aged child:
- Why is it important for you to be smart and safe online?
- Can you think of some things the internet is good for? How about what it is bad for?
- How can you tell if someone is a stranger? How can you tell if someone is a stranger online?
- What does it mean to be responsible in the online world?
