Central Scoop
September 2024
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we move into September, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership during the first few weeks of school. It’s been wonderful to see the students settling into their routines, making new friends, and engaging actively in their learning. September brings renewed energy and focus, and we are excited to build on the momentum we’ve created. We look forward to a month full of growth, creativity, and collaboration as we work together to ensure every student has a successful and enriching experience. Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education, and let's continue to make this school year one of the best yet!
Warm regards,
Melissa Williams
Elementary Principal
Picture Day
Picture day is scheduled for Friday, September 13th. Order forms will be sent home after Labor Day.
FREE Breakfast and Lunch
Davison Schools is again offering free breakfast and lunch this 2024/2025 school year. However, keep in mind that if your student gets milk with their home lunch or extra milk with their hot lunch, your student's account will be charged. Milk is 40 cents. If you'd like to add money to your student's account, please click the link below.
Attendance Policy
This attendance policy is used district-wide at the elementary and intermediate levels. If a student has excessive absences (including excused), the following procedure will be followed:
Step 1: The teacher calls or conferences with the parent after 7 days absent.
Step 2: The teacher notifies the counselor and principal after 10 days absent. The principal and counselor will decide on future procedures.
Step 3: The counselor or principal will make student and parent contacts. Intervention strategies will be initiated.
Step 4: The principal may require a meeting with the GISD Attendance Liaison Officer. 39
Step 5: If attendance improves, the teacher monitors attendance and returns to Step 1. If attendance does not improve for students in Grades 1-6, the principal takes action up to and including filing truancy petition with the court.
The attendance policy can also be found on page 38 in our District Student Handbook. If your child is going to be absent, please call the attendance line so we can mark it as excused. (810) 591-0828

Parents dropping off their children should enter on Cambridge street , off M-15. Please follow to stop sign and turn right on Dayton St. Turn left onto W. Lexington at the 4-way. Turn onto the one-way bus loop around Collins/Stadium. Proceed to Central parking lot.
