From the Principal
Dear Steele families,
As we wrap up another exciting week, I'm thrilled to share some highlights and important information with you.
I want to express our immense pride in our 4th-grade students who put on a spectacular performance of Mary Poppins on Wednesday night. Thank you, Sarah Johnson, for all your hard work and dedication!
We are incredibly fortunate at Steele to have a thriving drama program. In fact, we are one of the only elementary schools in the district to offer such an opportunity to our students. This program, along with many other enriching experiences, is made possible through the generous support of our amazing PTA. Their unwavering commitment to our school community allows us to provide exceptional programming that sets Steele apart.
Thanks to the PTA's contributions, we can offer:
A robust specials program
Full-time intervention support
Two full-time special education teachers
A full-time gifted and talented teacher
These resources, among others, are what make Steele such a special place for our children to learn and grow. The dedication of our staff, coupled with the support of our families, creates an environment where every child can thrive.
As we enter the first round of school choice, I encourage you to share your positive experiences at Steele with any prospective families you may know. Your authentic testimonials about our school's unique offerings, supportive community, and commitment to excellence can help other families make informed decisions about their children's education.
Thank you for your continued support and for being an integral part of what makes Steele Elementary truly extraordinary!

Wash Park Home Tour Committee Meeting 1/22
Plan to join Jennine at Eugene Field Library, Wed Jan 22, 3:30-4:30pm to learn more about how you can help support our amazing spring fundraiser - the Wash Park Home Tour. Kids can build legos while we chat!
The Wash Park Home Tour takes an immense amount of coordination and organizing, so additional help is crucial! If you are interested but unable to attend the meeting, please email washparkhometour2025@gmail.com. The more people power we have behind this event, the greater its success!
If you’re unable to donate your time, we’re still actively seeking sponsors and would truly appreciate your support—whether by becoming a sponsor, connecting us with local businesses, or sharing recommendations. This event offers a fantastic opportunity for businesses to promote their name within our community while supporting the school.

Girls On The Run Spring Registration
Girls on the Run's spring season is launching at Steele on March 3, with registration opening on February 3! Girls on the Run's mission is to instill valuable life skills including the important connection between physical and emotional health. Practices will be held at Steele on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:30 from March 3 - May 14, with the end of season 5k taking place on November 12. Register the Girls on the Run of the Rockies website. Reach out to Steele's Girls on the Run site coordinator, Elizabeth Weaver, with questions at eaweaver1@gmail.com
Staff Parking Lot
This is an important reminder that the staff parking lot (off of Alameda and Lafayette Street) is for staff members only. Staff members will begin displaying a parking permit.
This is in response to the influx of families driving through and parking in the lot to drop-off and pick-up students. This creates gridlock, safety issues and takes parking spots away from staff members who are parking for the day. This includes Discovery Link drop-off and pick-up.
Our staff arrives at different times throughout the day and we need to ensure they have a parking spot available when they arrive.
Should this continue to be an issue, additional measures may need to be implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.
