A Note from Principal Sage
BMS Families,
Farmington Rotary Club honored Aimee Assanga this week! Congratulations to Aimee and all of her accomplishments. Please see below for more on her success at BMS!
If you would still like to contribute to supporting our staff on Teacher Appreciation week, donations are being collected through our Parent Ambassadors Venmo account, @boeckmanparentambassadors or feel free to drop off a cash or check donation in the front office addressed to BMS Parent Ambassadors.
In transitions classes this week, learners will engage in the 7 Mindset called, "Live to Give." The Live to Give Mindset teaches the importance of serving others while maximizing our own potential. It tells us that abundance in life is a cycle; in order to receive love, respect, and financial security, we must first learn to give those things to others. This mindset also teaches us that the greatest gift we can ever give is to find and leverage our unique genius to maximize our positive impact on the world, knowing that good things will be returned to us in kind. In the lessons for this mindset, we guide students to think about the impact they want to make and the legacy they want to leave.
The four critical components of Live to Give are:
1. Stretch yourself
2. Make a difference
3. Receive gratefully
4.Leave a legacy
Farmington Area Public Schools students in grades 3-8 take state standardized tests each spring called the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) or the alternate Minnesota Test of Academic Skills (MTAS). The MCA (or MTAS) assessment is designed to test students against the state academic standards in reading, math and science. To read more about the MCA/MTAS test, please visit the district website, linked here. There is a link to the Opt Out information for both the MCA tests on the left side of the webpage, or for convenience, there is a direct link here.
Specific Dates of Testing:
- April 17 & April 18 – Math MCA: we will follow MCA Alternate Schedule
- April 24 & April 25 – Reading MCA: we will follow MCA Alternate Schedule
It is going to be another great week at BMS!
-Joe Sage, Principal

If a student will be absent, a parent/guardian must call Boeckman Middle School’s attendance line at 651-460-1405 prior to 9:45 AM each day of the absence. We ask that parents/guardians provide the reason for the absence at the time they call. The school determines if the absence falls within the excused or unexcused parameters. If the school does not receive a call from the parent/guardian the day of the absence, the student’s absence is automatically unexcused.
