Submitted by Mr. Slabonik, Supervisor of Supportive Services
This new roof project was completed by scarifying the former roof, adding a new foam layer, and then adding a silicone-based coating to the surface. The work was completed by JJD Urethane. The EPDM portion was completed by Maines. A roof hatch was added to the roof for safer roof access.
Completed Roof Project at Gilbertsville Elementary
This new roof project was followed a similar process to the Earl Elementary project. The roof was scarified, a new layer of foam was added, and a silicone coating applied to the top layer. The work was completed by JJD Urethane.

Student Representatives' Report
Liliana: Good evening board members and meeting attendees! We hope everyone has had a safe and happy start to the school year. Alison and I are excited to bring you a recap of the back to
school festivities at BASH. First, I would like to welcome Alison to her first meeting as Junior Board Representative.
Alison: Hello everyone, my name is Alison Shapin, your new Junior representative following behind the footsteps of our now senior representative, Liliana Myers. I am honored to be here with you today and I believe that this will be an amazing opportunity for me to understand the foundation of my own and my peers' education. I have been a committed member of my Youth and Government
delegation for the past four years, now residing as one of our senators, I am also the treasurer of
the drama club, and a new member of the berks county youth advisory board. Well enough about
me, let us move on to some important insight into the beginning of the school year.
Liliana: I very excited to work with Alison this school year. In addition to our new representative,
we would also like to begin highlighting the Elementary schools during our reports. Each month, we
will pick one to two Elementary schools and share some highlights in addition to our continued
luncheons.
Alison: August 26th marked the first day of school for students. In order to help with the
transition, BASH ran some homeroom activities in order to familiarize students with new rules and
expectations, their career portfolio requirements, as well as to do some icebreakers to get to know
each other. These homeroom meetings were very informative to students as they navigate the new
school year. The first day also marked picture and health screening day. Throughout the day
homerooms went down to Bear and Cub gym to get their ID pictures taken and get their health
screening.
Liliana: Two weeks ago, BASH’s class of 2025 joined in the first of many senior year festivities, the senior sunrise! The class officers provided doughnuts, hot chocolate, and coffee. Although there was not much of a sunrise, we were all grateful to get the time to spend with one another and celebrate the start to our senior year. We would like to thank Mr. Fries and the class officers for making this event possible.
Alison: While it's only been a few weeks into the school year, the clubs are up and running and
most have had their first meetings already. Youth and Government, a club designated to bring
together students interested in government, met on Wednesday, September 11th at the Boyertown
YMCA to address the year at hand and the goals for leadership and the club.
The Student Diversity Union had its first meeting on Tuesday, September 10th.
The student council has been working since the start of the school year, planning events for the
student body. Their first meeting is on Tuesday, September 3rd. Key Club met on Wednesday,
September 11th. And Impact Club met for their first full group meeting on Thursday, September
19th.
Liliana: September is national pediatric cancer awareness month. In order to help raise awareness
and funds, BASH hosted its annual gold out game. We saw lots of school spirit in both the student
section and throughout the halls at school. Although we lost, it was a close game with the final
score of 24-28. Throughout the game, Student Council was able to raise over $700 to support
childhood cancer research.
Alison: Next month marks some exciting events for the student body. One of the most looked
forward to being the Homecoming dance. Already we see flyers for seniors running for homecoming court and it seems everyone is quite excited for both the game and dance. Besides the dance, one of the most colorful days of the year is coming up in October, Pink Out, an event bringing awareness to breast cancer in our community and beyond. This day marks an event that is one of the most participated by the student body. Of course, coming in October also marks the end of the first quarter and the finalization of grades by teachers and the receiving of report cards by students. It's hard to believe that the end of the 1st quarter will be coming so soon!
Liliana: Thank you all for listening! We have had a great beginning of the year and can't wait to
continue highlighting all of the wonderful things happening at BASH. Have a great evening!
