Carnival Help! - Kitchen Coordinators
We are currently seeking for two people to partner together and run the kitchen and concessions at the Carnival on Friday, May 2nd. Ideally, we would like both of them to set up the kitchen/concessions together along with help from 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm. One person would be in charge of the concessions/kitchen from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm and the other person would take over from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Please reach out to Felicia at Felicia.Santana@live.com if you are interested or have any questions about the position!
Vaccination Clinics in April
Students entering Kindergarten, 7th Grade, and 12th Grade need vaccines.
Are your children up-to-date?
District 196 is partnering with local health agencies to offer families easy, stress-free vaccine clinics. Our clinics will bill insurance when available, and vaccines will be provided at no cost for families without insurance. All District 196 families may go to any of the clinics.
Spring Vaccine Clinics:
· April 9, 3-6 p.m., Valley Middle School
· April 10, 3-6 p.m., Rosemount High School
· April 17, 4-7 p.m., Oak Ridge Elementary
· April 22, 3-6 p.m., Scott Highlands Middle School
· April 24, 4-7 p.m. Apple Valley High School
Act now. Skip the summer rush and set your child up for a smooth start to the school year. State law requires up-to-date immunization records or a valid exemption. Without them, students may be excluded from school and related activities.
Walk-ins are welcome, but we encourage advance registration. 👉 Click here to register!

Summer 2025: CAHOOTS Math and Language Arts Program (grades K-5)
Math and Language Arts in One Book - A Great Value!
Community Education is excited to offer CAHOOTS, a summer correspondence workbook program for students in grades K-5. This program provides a portable, flexible and engaging way to reinforce math and language arts skills, closely aligning with our district curriculum.
How It Works
- Students complete lessons at home at their own pace.
- Answers are checked online, followed by a reflection assignment.
- Students send their reflections to a CAHOOTS Buddy, who responds with encouraging feedback.
Important Details
- Enrollment information will be sent the week of February 24.
- Cost: $45 per student
- Registration deadline: April 6, 2025
- Sample workbook pages can be viewed at ce.district196.org/enrichyouth.

- Please call 651-423-7924 with questions.
Grade-Level Recommendation
Students should enroll in the grade level they will be entering in the fall of 2025 (i.e. 1st grade = review of kindergarten). If a different level may be more appropriate, please consult your child's teacher.
Give your child the confidence boost they need for the next school year with CAHOOTS!
Note: CAHOOTS is not a replacement for summer school if your child qualifies.
PLANNING FOR NEXT YEAR...
Parent Input for 2025-2026 Class Placement
Believe it or not, it's already time to begin planning for the next school year! A key part of this process is creating balanced class lists that support the success of all students. Our teachers work thoughtfully to place each child in a learning environment where they will thrive.
While we do not take requests for specific teachers, we want to ensure we are aware of any specific needs your child may have. If there are particular considerations; such as a peer your child works well with or a situation where separation from another student may be beneficial, this is your opportunity to provide that input.
Please complete this Parent Input Form by Friday, April 11 to share any important information that may help us in this process. Thank you for your partnership in supporting your child's success!
