Mr. Sar's Message
Our safety planning protocols have been worked on for the past 6 months. As we receive new requirements from the Department of Health our plans get updated. I will be happy to share all of our procedures once we have more information on who will be coming back to school. In the meantime, those that plan to or are curious about the return should review mask wearing and social distancing with their students. We will do the same as we return, but some front loading will definitely help.
Stay Tuned,
Mr. Sar

Teacher Spotlight
Hello, my name is Kimberly Chavez.
I grew up in the City of Norwalk. I attended Lampton Elementary and graduated from Norwalk High School. I am currently working as a Preschool Specialist in the Sanders Unit. Before that, I was working at various sites for 7 years, as an Intervention TOSA. I worked with disenfranchised students in building basic reading and math skills. I also worked on several school site teams and collaborated with teachers to support students in various ways. I have been working as a teacher with Norwalk La Mirada for 21 years.
I graduated with a BA in Early Education and Human Development at University of La Verne. I also received a MA in Special Education at Cal State Dominguez and another MS in Education, Curriculum and Administration at National University. I also received my administrative credential and BCLAD. I have an 8-year-old daughter who attends Niemes Elementary's Dual Program. On our days off we make crafts, decorate, walk our dog Luna, cook and bake. I love being a part of a team so that we can help students and their families be successful. I look forward to this new journey as we shift to this new age of our education system.

Mr. Weaver's Self Care Corner!!!
Hello Bobcats!!! It’s Mr. Weaver again coming to you with some “Self-Care Tips” for the month of March. What is self-care? Self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. Good self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety. It’s also key to a good healthy relationship with oneself, others and especially our children. This is why it’s important to have a list of short and simple activities for mental health self-care. The activities on this list can be done in 10 minutes or less and you can do it with your kids.
Self-Care Activities for Mental Health in 10 Minutes or Less
Drink water from your favorite water bottle
Mindfully eat a piece of fruit
Walk up and down the sidewalk
Color
Read
Close your eyes and breathe deeply
Do jumping jacks
Eat yogurt
Walk up and down stairs
Write a kind note to someone
Take pictures
Dance to a favorite song
Write or draw in a journal
Always remember to take a few brief breaks throughout your day to do something positive for yourself.
