Bordeaux Elementary School
October 20, 2024
Dear Families,
The Title/LAP team will once again be hosting a family engagement event for your families during conference week. We encourage families to stop by room 112 after your conference.
Our fabulous Title/LAP team will be there to teach a couple activities for High Frequency Words and materials to practice at home will be available. There will also be free books and cookies!
Our Scholastic Fall Book Fair starts tomorrow and runs all week. Students will be visiting the book fair on their regularly scheduled library days. If you would like your student to shop during that time please consider setting up an ewallet for them instead of sending cash to school. Families are invited to shop the book fair with their student before school from 8:30 to 9am or stop by before or after their conference. We are looking forward to this fun event!
I wanted to acknowledge or wonderful family liaison, Ms. Wendy for writing and receiving a grant from the Squaxin Island Tribe One Percent Commission. BDX will get $2500 for our Family and Student Support Program. Thanks to Wendy’s work, we will have some more funds to help support our families in need.
This last week, Bordeaux Elementary hosted our Family Information Night for our Hispanic families. The evening provided information about our school’s arrival/dismissal procedures, attendance policies, incentive programs, Title/LAP and family resources. We would like to thank Ms. Wendy, our family liaison, who helped to coordinate this year's event along with Ms. Dunegan. We’d also like to thank the Bordeaux Elementary and Shelton School District staff that volunteered to help this year as well. A special thanks to the many organizations that contributed to the event including Domino’s Pizza, Don Enrique Bakery, Jalisco Tortilla Factory, Maggie’s Market, and the Shelton School District Resource Center.
Each day this week, students will be dismissed at 12:30. Conferences are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesday and Thursday will have evening conferences. It’s still not too late to sign up if you haven’t already done so. We are looking forward to sharing all the wonderful things your students are doing while at Bordeaux.
Even with a rainy and windy weekend, as always, it’s a great week to be a Bordeaux Bulldog!
