The Pawsome Print
December 1, 2023
Dear Pawsome Families,
At this time of year, it is so important for us to take a pause and think about the things we are grateful for. I am grateful for our Pawsome Loring School Community. Our educators come to school each day excited and ready to teach our students and our family community continues to amaze me with the support you show our entire school community.
I had the opportunity to be with some of my family and friends on the Cape for the Thanksgiving holiday. I went to my former high school to watch the Thanksgiving Day football game and ran into teachers and classmates. This opportunity reminded me of the important work our school community does each day for our young learners.
Here are some resources I found that can help support teaching about gratitude at home.

November Food Pantry
Our November Food Pantry was a huge success! As a district we collected 253 boxes which was the SECOND HIGHEST total of banana boxes in the last 4 years! The food pantry let us know that in one day they served 87 individuals and families. Your efforts truly make a difference. At Loring, We collected 62 boxes, crushing last years total of 57 boxes.
Paw Rewards
As part of our positive behavior incentive system, students are working hard to earn individual and class paws. Paws are earned for demonstrating our core values and expected behaviors. When a class earns 25 paws, they earn a Paw Reward. These rewards can be anything from a PJ day, extra recess, fort day or having your fourth grade teacher dress up as a pickle for the day! Please ask your child what types of things they have earned for their individual and class paws.
Become Your Dreams: History of Hip Hop
We had a very fun program by Illstyle and Peace Production: Become your Dreams - History of Hip Hop Dance on November 15th. Students and staff members had fun learning about the history of hip hop, danced to the music and heard messages about kindness, respect and hard work.
Become Your Dreams: The History of Hip Hop Dance "features the dancers of Illstyle & Peace Productions and celebrates the art and movement of hip hop. Tracing hip hop dance styles from the late 70’s through today, this acclaimed ensemble teaches positive messages, including “Think It—Do It—Become It.” In this show students got to come up to the front and share their own creative dance moves!
Third Grade - Poetry in Motion
Fifth Grade - Star Lab
Today our fifth graders had the Star Lab come to help expand their learning about the earth, sun, moon, and the stars. These creative enrichment experiences couldn't happen without our fabulous PTO and generous parent community.
Car Drop Off Reminder
To ensure a smooth arrival, please make sure your child is prepared and ready to get out of the car on the passenger side when it is your turn. Staff members will be outside on the sidewalk between the library door and the basketball court at 7:45 a.m. ready to welcome students. Please do not let your child out of the car until you have reached the first staff member standing on the sidewalk near the basketball court.
When you enter near the baseball field you will be waiting in two lanes, this allows us to get more cars off of Woodside Road. When you get to the second gate, you will need to respectfully merge into one lane. Please be mindful of the cars around you as you are taking turns to merge into the single lane.
You should pull your car up as close to the library door as possible. There will be a sign indicating where the first car should stop. Please pay attention to the cars in front of you. Once cars are stopped from the library door to the basketball court, we will unload that group. After the group is unloaded, we will motion cars to leave the parking lot and have the next group pull up. Please do not leave the line or go around the car in front of you as staff cars will be entering the parking lot through the same entrance you will be leaving.
When exiting the parking lot, you will be required to take a left (signage is posted). Cars will not be allowed to turn right out of the parking lot during our school arrival time.
Any student arriving after 7:55 a.m. will be considered tardy and will need to be signed in at the front door by a caregiver. You will sign your child in using the posted QR code on the window. If you arrive at school without your phone, you can let the office know and they will bring out a laptop for you to use.

Loring Core Values
At Loring School, we are PAWSOME because we show our Core Values! These values are part of everyday life at Loring and reinforced in the classroom, on the playground and all around school. Students are taught the meaning of each word and how they make us better students and community members. Please continue to have conversations about our core values at home.
Respect ~ Responsibility ~ Caring ~ Best Effort
The Loring Pledge
The Loring Pledge is said every morning during announcements. Loring students embody our pledge and we hope this stays with them not only when they are at school but home as well.
