The Riebli Record
John B. Riebli Elementary- March 1, 2024
How is it March already????
This school year is flying by, I can't believe it is MARCH!!! It seems February passed by in the blink of an eye, and I, for one, am looking forward to sunshine and brighter days!
The month of March is a time of transitioning from the many winter activities into the anticipation of spring. As we hope for warmer weather, we want to keep our students focused on continuing to strive to do their best. I appreciate all of the effort you put in at home to ensure this carries over into their school day, as it impacts their academic standing. Thank you to all of our students, staff, families, and PTA for your participation and continuous support.
We have some events coming up this month:
March 9: The Big Event- parents you don't want to miss this.
March 13: Dine and Donate at Machado Burger
March 13: Read on Sonoma Assembly to celebrate the students who met goal in grades 2-6.
March 15: Report cards come home
March 18-22: Spring Break
April 1: No School
For students in grades 2-5, the last day for AR points to count for Trimester 3 is May 3. That will come up quick. Make sure your student is reading every night for at least 20 minutes.
Our Youth Truth Data is coming in and I am working on analyzing it. I will be sharing more in the future weeks. Thank you to all the parents that participate in the survey.
Have a great weekend!
XO,
Emily

Music news
Bravo to all the 4th-, 5th-, and 6th-grade musicians who performed at the District Winter Concert on February 29! They did a phenomenal job playing together as a district without any previous rehearsals in the space with the full group. Bravissimo! A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped set up chairs and stands, fold programs, transport violins and guitars for tuning, and staff the MWEF table at the concert. You are most appreciated! And of course, thank you to all the parents, family, and staff who attended the concert to support our brave musicians!
Music classes will continue until mid-May. Students will not need their usual instruments at their first class following the concert, as we will be having a little post-concert celebration with percussion instruments. We will return to our usual schedule with our usual instruments the following week.
Parents, if you are interested in getting involved with the Mark West Education Foundation to keep music and arts education going strong in the district, please join us at our next meeting on Tuesday, March 12 from 5:00-6:00pm at the District Office Learning Center. While we will normally meet on the first Tuesday of the month, we are meeting on the 12th in March to avoid a conflict with the school board meeting.
Wellness committee
Hello Parents,
The Mark West School District is actively looking for parental involvement in serving on our District Wellness Committee. The Wellness committee meets 2-3 times a year for 1 hour each meeting via zoom. The Wellness committee helps to promote the belief that foods and beverages available to students at district schools should support the health curriculum and promote optimal health, taking into consideration the needs of students with special dietary needs.
We need your help to continue this goal. If you would like to serve on the District Wellness Committee please reach out to Kelly Sansone (ksansone@mwusd.org) to join or with any questions.
