What We're Learning...
In ELA
ELA has completed all required text and standards for the year. The students have done a great job showing their proficiency on the standards. The last few weeks of school we will continue reading and free writing. We will also remediate the students who did not show proficiency on the EOG’s to prepare for retesting.
Below we have included IXL skills that students can practice over the summer to prepare for 7th grade. Also, please encourage your student to read as much as they can during the summer break.
IXL Skills (6th grade):
A1- Determine the Main Idea
B2- Determine the theme
C1- Identify the author’s purpose
D1- Identify the Point of View
AA1- Context Clues
In Social Studies
How sad to say goodbye to such a great group of 6th graders!
June brings us to end-of-year activities, like a summer trivia Kahoot and fun movies with a historical twist to challenge our students to learn even more about the past.
We have had such an amazing year! What a great group of students!
Have a wonderful summer, relax, and read something historical!
Here is a great reference: Historical Non-Fiction for Kids
In Math
We have our EOG on Wednesday May 29th. We have been completing a project called Math Minds and Muscles (MMM) that reviews over each unit that was covered over the school year. The students are working together in groups to earn points for their team to win the MMM competition. The winners get a prize at the end of the competition. One way they can earn points for their team by completing IXL skills that were listed on a data bank. Please encourage your child to practice as many skills as possible.
We know each of our students will do the the best they can and we are going to rock these EOG’s!!
In Science
We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed the activities for this school year! The students have worked incredibly hard and have shown great enthusiasm and curiosity throughout our science lessons.
As we wrap up the academic year, students only need to focus on preparing for their Unit 6 DUA Test. After the exam, it's time for a well-deserved break.
We hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing summer vacation!
