Manley's Message
Thank you for sharing your students with us this year. We have had a tremendous year! It was a wild ride to be a school within a school and then make a mid year move, but our staff and your students are ROCKSTARS and made it look easy. I am looking forward to our first full year in our building next year and we are planning many ways to get to know and support our school families. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe summer!
REMINDER: May 22- 1:05pm release
Please VERIFY if your student is returning or not in Skyward. This helps us tremendously as we plan for next year and make classes. We are having rewards at school for classes that verify so your help is needed! Directions are stated below.
For our upcoming big events we will have links for you to pre-register. This allows us to have our secure badges ready and prevents a long line and delay at the front office. Thank you for your help in making everything run smoothly. All of the links for pre-registration are below.
We will be celebrating our Kindergarten students on Monday, May 20 at 8:30am. Families are welcome.
We will be celebrating our 5th Graders on Wednesday, May 22 at 9:00am with a fifth grade walk and then a pancake breakfast provided by the Burrell Admin Team for the students. Please join us!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Principal
Bus Changes for Next Year
We are bringing you an update from BISD Transportation. We plan to expand the school walk zone next school year 2024-2025. The subdivisions listed below include a safe walk zone and crossing guards for James L. Burrell Elementary.
The following subdivision that are impacted by this decision are:
Stallings Subdivision
Broadmoor Subdivision
Northgate Subdivision
Mesa Ridge Subdivision *(new 2024)
Bus transportation will not be provided to these subdivisions. Questions? Call 254.215.2150
Families of returning students entering grades three, six, and nine (3rd, 6th, and 9th) for the 2024-25 school year will be required to provide proof of residency to verify their home address during the Returning Student Verification process.
Any students new to Belton ISD and incoming Kindergarteners will also provide proof of residency to verify their home address.
Proof of residency is a copy of a current utility bill (electricity, gas, water) dated within the last 30 days showing name, current address, and date; a current lease (for 30 days until a utility bill is available); if you have recently purchased your home, a copy of the closing papers will suffice until a utility bill is available; or a notarized copy of the BISD Residency Verification affidavit, along with a valid Proof of Residency in the homeowner/renters name. If you are living in Belton ISD attendance boundaries, but cannot provide one of the above forms of documentation, please contact the campus registrar for individual assistance.
An electronic copy of eligible documents may be uploaded into Skyward when you complete your Returning Student Verification.
All returning students need to be verified in our system! It helps us plan for the 24-25 school year. Start the process here: https://www.bisd.net/domain/200
Teacher Requests
Preparing classroom rosters is a collaborative effort amongst all staff members and administrators in the building. This process begins in the spring and can take several weeks and go well into the summer.
Many factors go into creating a classroom roster. The personality of the student and teacher, how many students are receiving exceptional services, number of students who are being pulled out for small group intervention, the balance of gender in the class, the academic levels of the students, which kids had a tough time getting along with specific students the previous year, and at times, which kids socialize more when they are around specific students. Again, this process can take several weeks for our grade level teachers to complete.
Therefore, when you make a request, not only does this affect your child and the teacher's classroom they're moving to, but it also affects the schedule of so many other students receiving services, the schedule of the support teachers providing interventions for your child and others, it affects the culture of the classroom, and may affect the teacher's schedule itself. Most importantly, understand that the staff at Burrell have the same goal and that is for your child to receive a world-class education, in a safe and nurturing environment, and for them to reach their full potential.
If your child has specific learning needs, and you feel that it is necessary to provide us with additional information, you may provide a request for a specific teaching style (not a specific teacher's name) that would best meet the needs of your child. This request would need to be in writing and submitted to the principal by the end of May. This information will be used to assist the leadership team when placing students in classes for the following year.
