Colby Glass-March 2024
Career Day Pics!
Our Career Day was a successful event. It was held on Friday, March 1. Our students enjoyed all the presenters who took time to showcase their careers. Students were exposed to many different careers & jobs that helped them to make the connection between school and the workplace. Students were engaged and enjoyed interacting with all the professionals. Thanks again to all those who participated and help make this event a success.
Teach your child how to set and achieve goals, check out some resources and ideas below!
7 Fun Goal Setting Activities for Children
We all know that setting and achieving goals is a life skill necessary for success and happiness. But it’s one that even adults REALLY struggle with: Studies say that only about 8% of people achieve their New Year’s resolutions!
How can we teach children to set realistic goals — and actually follow through?
Make it fun!
Research shows that children learn best when they’re playing and enjoying themselves at the same time. Fun experiences increase levels of endorphins, dopamine, and oxygen, all of which promote learning.

CELEBRATE KINDNESS!
In February we celebrated Kindness Month & Random Acts of Kindness. Kindness means being friendly, generous, and considerate to ourselves and others through words & actions. We encouraged Colby Glass students and staff to celebrate by doing random acts of kindness for others. Some ideas to show kindness are: saying hello, share a smile, open a door, forgiving someone, being patient or giving a hug.
We must not forget that KINDNESS matters! Continue to do and say nice things to others and do something kind for yourself!
Check out the picture below: Ms. Harris's class wrote KIND notes to the Counselors
Military Pride Club
The Military Pride Club members made hearts with messages to deliver to the campus staff with candy. They were so excited to make & deliver these! We hope that our staff knows how much they are appreciated and loved! Thanks for showing our lil Huskies what being KIND is.
Counselors In The Classroom
Book: Try A Little Kindness by Henry Cole
Book: The Smart Cookie by Jory John and Pete Oswald
Students were able to discuss the topic of self-efficacy and believing in themselves. The Smart Cookie is a cookie who feels she is not as smart as the clever cupcakes and brilliant cinnamon rolls in her class. Her teacher then assigns the class a project that helps the Smart Cookie realize that her creativity is a strength and that she is smart. The Smart Cookie then feels an increase in confidence in her abilities. Students were able to celebrate their academic strengths and share them with the class while also creating their own cookie design.
Magnet School Acceptance
We are proud of these lil Huskies who have been accepted into NISD's Magnet school programs. These 5th graders each received a congratulations banner from their future campus. Way to go future Hawks & Cougars!
Mindful Mornings Club
We have officially ended our Mindful Mornings Club sessions for the grades PK- 2nd. We are so grateful for all the students who participated in doing yoga in the mornings. Yoga and meditation gave students the ability to learn breathing techniques, regulate their emotions, and stretch and relax our bodies. Yoga brought physical and emotional benefits. Thank you to Mrs. Barrie for volunteering her time to teach our Lil' Huskies these sessions! We are so grateful for you!
