Ram-Bucks Store
One of our positive behavioral support programs (PBS) is the Ram-Bucks program. Students earn Ram-Bucks for helping, being kind, and doing the right thing. This ensures our students are receiving positive feedback. At the end of every quarter our students get to spend their hard earned Ram-Bucks on little toys, free-dress coupons, or buddy time tickets. Great work kids!
Math Game Night
This family activity was math-tastic! We had an evening full of math games and prizes! Thanks to our teachers for putting this activity together, and thanks to our families for attending, we hope you had a blast!
Winter Showcase
The Winter Showcase was entertaining and fun. We had an amazing turnout, the stands were so packed the audience was spilling onto the floor of the gym! The kids got to dabble in the performing arts, and many of them excelled. Cheers to all of their hard work and practice, it showed!

A Peek Into P.E.
Our wonderful physical education teacher Mr. Kawatachi, who is pictured above as his alter ego, runs the P.E. program at Makalapa. During the day he works hard to pack his curriculum with a plethora of ball games and other physical activities for the kids. In the afternoon he runs all of the extracurricular sports for the older grade levels. He really is a workhorse here at Makalapa and we are thankful that we have him. Here is a peek into one of his fun end-of-the-quarter P.E. classes.
Gingerbread House Making
This activity is usually a family favorite, and this year it didn't disappoint. I was so happy to see all of you who attended! The parents were chatting and the kids were building. All of the houses were very cool. What a great way to kick off winter break!

Each year, the State of HI DOE reports on performance of the state's public schools. This annual report summarizes progress on the state's achievement of student learning goals laid out by the Board-approved Strategic Plan. This report informs educators, parents, administrators, community members and policymakers. We have access to the report from last school year (2023-2024).
Here are some quick stats from the report:
