Friday, May 27th -- Red, White, & Blue Day to celebrate Memorial Day

The JBR will be returning next Sunday, May 15th. We hope you will all consider participating in the wonderful community event as either a volunteer, walker, jogger, road racer or cheerleader! There is something for everyone, along with music and food!

Reminder: Mr. Deppe is looking for students and adults to walk the 2-mile event with him. Mr. Lutinski is running the 5K race if you want to join him.

We are still looking for confirmation from any and all military veterans who would like to join us for our annual Memorial Day program. This program will be held on Friday, May 27th @ 9:15 am. If you have not already done so, please complete this GOOGLE FORM to confirm your participation. You may also send an email to Mr. Deppe (fdeppe@asrsd.org) or call Gail J. at 978-772-8600 x1401. When confirming your attendance for our special program, please let us know if you would like to stay for our military brunch immediately following the program.

Congratulation to all of our fifth grade students on their recent completion of the DARE program.

THANKS to EVERYONE who contributed to our "Coins for Compassion" drive - no matter what amount. We were able to raise a total of $495.72, all of which will go towards supporting the children of Ukraine.

Come join us on Saturday, May 21st, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm for fun, food, music, and all things wellness.

On Friday, May 6th all K-5 students had the opportunity to hear master storyteller, Odds Bodkins. The stories told were about different cultures and the music helped to bring the stories to life.

Parents & children can view many of Odds' wonderful stories, as a family, simply by going on Youtube and looking up "Odds Bodkin"

Dr. Lance: In this lesson fifth graders learn why the Moon seems to change shape (phases) over the course of a month. In the activity, Model the Moon's Phases, students use a styrofoam ball as a model of the Moon and a flashlight as a model of the Sun to gain a better understanding of how the interactions between the Sun and Moon are responsible for the Moon’s phases.

Mrs. Daul: Ms.Daul's class learning about how our new caterpillars will turn into butterflies!

Mrs. Robbins (Health): Students were placed in groups and assigned a Body System (Skeletal, Cardio/Respiratory, Nervous, Digestive, and Muscular) to research. Groups created a game with at least 20 questions about the system they researched. These photos show the finished product where students shared and played the Body System games with their classmates.

Mr. Whittemore's fifth graders have been creating a display honoring Ukraine as part of their social studies activities.

Mrs. Colello: Grade 2 students worked with Mrs. Perwak in the courtyard to plant their own beans as part of a science unit. They also helped Mrs. Perwak to plant some flowers in one of the flower beds to help beautify our courtyard.

Mrs. Scott: Mrs. Scott's kindergarten students have been using butterflies and caterpillars to help them learn.

Wednesday, May 11th has been designated as National School Nurses Day. We would like to recognize and congratulate our school nurses, Tiffany Naughton & Ashleigh Barter, as well as ASRSD Head Nurse Rene Paine.
