Return to In-person School & Science and Engineering Fair will be Friday
- As was shared earlier today from RCPS, we will return to normal operations tomorrow, January 24, 2025. Thank you for the dedication and adaptability of our students, staff, and families during virtual learning this week.
- We understand that the temperatures will dip below freezing again tonight and want everyone to dress appropriate for the weather and exercise care and caution tomorrow morning.
- The RCPS Facilities Team has been working hard today to clear and apply ice melt so that our driveway, sidewalk, and parking lots are clear.
- We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow!
- This also means that we will host the Rockdale Regional Science and Engineering Fair tomorrow so read below for more details.
Rockdale Regional Science and Engineering Fair Details
Fair Schedule for Friday, January 24, 2025
7:30am- 8:05am- Students will set up their projects as they arrive to school in the Cafetorium
1:30pm – In-Person Presentations begin
Students must present and defend their work in-person at the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology.
~5:00-6:00pm – Parent/Public Exhibition in the Magnet Cafetorium
- We will open the Cafetorium for public exhibition as close to 5pm as possible but must allow the Grand Champion judges to finish judging first. Thank you for your patience if there is a need for early arriving parents to wait for a few minutes.
6:00pm- Breakdown projects and move to RCHS theater for awards
6:30pm - Award Ceremony in RCHS theater (will also be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@RMSST_Research)

Second Competition this weekend: Technology Fair Assistance available Friday morning
We also have many students competing in the East Atlanta Technology Fair on Saturday, January 25th at RCA. Students should have received their interview time from the organizers today. Any students who need help with final items for this competition should stop by Ms. Kennen's classroom in the morning (AFTER setting up for Science Fair). Good luck and thank you for representing RMSST.
Magnet Newsroom- First Episode of 2025 (originally shared Tuesday)
Purchase a Valentine's Gram from WOWs and support the community
Women on the Way to Success (WOWS) is selling Valentine’s Grams in the form of candy and brownies. The candy is off-brand Fun Dips and costs $1 for 2 and the brownies are individually packaged heart-shaped brownies and costs $3 each. These will be available for pre-sales from Wednesday, January 22nd through Friday, January 31st. You can purchase before school in the Cafetorium each morning or see Mrs. Jones in Room 814 with cash OR through TicketLeap (with additional fees). The Valentine Grams will be delivered to your selected recipient on Friday, February 14th in one of their Rockdale Magnet classes. This is ONLY available to be delivered to Rockdale Magnet students. All proceeds will be donated to the Trevor Project.
RCHS Fine Arts Opportunity! Audition for the Spring Musical
Are you feeling Rotten to the Core? Auditions for the school musical Disney's The Descendants will be Monday January 27 and Tuesday January 28 from 3:15- 5:30 in room 204. Please pick up an audition form from Ms. Hutchinson in room 204.
The rescheduled Monster Dash 5K will be Friday, March 7th at 5pm. Sign up to participate now!

- Registrations from the October race that had to be postponed due to the Biolab Fire will be automatically moved over to the March date.

- Register by Monday, February 17, 2025 to be guaranteed a race tshirt!
Monster Dash Cups go to school with fastest male and female runners. Prizes for top 3 runners in each age division.

Attention Seniors! Win $5K by sharing your ideas to improve Rockdale County's Economic Landscape!
RCA has collaborated with the Rockdale Development Authority to establish an Enhancing Rockdale County’s Economic Landscape Scholarship/Grant. This Scholarship/Grant invites 12th grade students to develop an innovative project or initiative that showcases a clear vision for improving Rockdale County’s economic landscape.
We are awarding $5,000 per homeschool for the top three students.
- 3rd place will receive $1000
- 2nd place will receive $1500
1st place will receive $2500

Dual Enrollment Information from RCPS
All Magnet Students are required to view the Dual Enrollment Information video below by February 1st.
Recording of Advisement & Schedule Planning Kick-Off Meeting available for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade Families. Students are required to view before 1:1 Advisement Session if they could not participate live.
Thank you to all of the 9, 10th, &11th grade students family members who joined us live for last week's Advisement and Schedule Planning Meeting held on Thursday, December 12th from 6-7:30pm. We are excited to begin planning next steps in your college & career journey as well as next school year. ALL students will need to have attended or watched prior to their 1:1 Advisement meetings that will start January 21st, so please take an hour over the holiday break to catch up and watch the video as you are able.
