Hello Corvallis Community,

Thanks to everyone who joined us this weekend for our Beautification Day. Our campus looks great! Ms. Stahr led the project with Julie Hernandez PTA president. Our Teacher of the Year, Ms. Alexander, was on hand to lend her expertise as well. Mr. Freddy, our night custodian super hero, was also on hand making sure everything was running smoothly.

This week has Friday as a 1:30 day followed by Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 27th. We are looking forward to some fun after our testing is done this week. Our students and teachers have worked hard so they deserve it.

This week is Classified Staff Recognition and Appreciation Week. Corvallis can't function wiouth our classified staff. They help keep our campus clean and safe. They support student learning and are highly skilled and appreciated. You may not think of them first when you think of school, but know they are essential and love our students with all they have.

We need more PTA members! We've all enjoyed the events this year. In order for these events to keep happening we need new and more PTA members. Worried about your language skills? Not a problem, we will work that out. Our students tend to play together during the meetings, so feel free to bring them along. You can email corvalliselementarypta@gmail.com for more information.

Every school day is a day of learning for our students. It's important that students are in class on time and ready to learn. Our students line up at 8:33 and are in classrooms at 8:35.

Students entering the building from 8:35-8:45 will be greeted by our staff and given a tardy slip to take to class. After 8:45 students will report to the office to obtain a tardy slip.

If your child will not attend school on a particular day you may email cor.att@slzusd.org or call 510-317-4999. Please leave a voice mail. Our office checks it several times a day.

Many of our students suffer anxiety. As a parent, I know how helpless we can feel when our children are suffering. Here is an article that talks about some things parents can do at home. Please reach out to your child's teacher to discuss your concerns. We want to help you and your child work through the anxiety and enjoy school.
