Dear Parents and/or Legal Guardians,
I am writing to inform you that due to the projected heat advisory for Niagara County, beginning
tomorrow, June 18th at noon and continuing until Thursday evening, all of our K-8 schools will be closing early on Tuesday, June 18th and Thursday, June 20th. The K-8 schools will follow the half-day release schedule.
- Aaron Mossell Junior High School will be released at 10:22 a.m.
- Emmet Belknap Intermediate will be released at 11:10 a.m.
- All Elementary Schools will be released at 11:50 a.m.
In light of these changes, all K – 8 principals will directly communicate any adjustments to end-of-year activities scheduled for these days.
Regents Exams
It is crucial that all secondary students scheduled to take Regents exams on June 18th and June 20th report to their schools as scheduled. These exams cannot be rescheduled by State mandate.
Additionally, the district has arranged for Regents exams to be conducted in the coolest available spaces within our secondary buildings, prioritizing the health and safety of our students and staff.
After School Programs
Afterschool YWCA and YMCA programming will remain open and follow the schedule for half day services.
Reminders
As a reminder, there will be no school on Wednesday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.
Furthermore, according to our school calendar, all K-8 schools are scheduled for a half-day of school on June 21st.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this information. Should any parent or legal guardian have questions or concerns regarding this matter, please feel free to contact your child’s principal directly.
Yours in Education,
Mathis Calvin III, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
