The Lion's Roar
March 13, 2025
A Note From Mrs. Bowden....
Dear Lion Families,
We made it! This next week is a well-deserved break for our students, teachers, and staff! As we step into this time of rest and renewal, I encourage you to take full advantage of the break—whether it’s through travel, time with family, or simply enjoying the beauty of the season.
This past quarter has been filled with incredible achievements, and I couldn’t be more proud of our students’ hard work and dedication. From academic milestones to service projects and extracurricular successes, our Lions continue to shine in all they do! WIG day was a success, our students shined bright showcasing their talents at the Talent Show, Lighthouse did an incredible job planning and running the event. I also wanted to give a shout out, to our Searchlight students for having Dillos come out during lunch and serving nachos to students.
As a reminder, school will be closed from March 14- March 23, with classes resuming on March 24. Please ensure that students return rested, refreshed, and ready to finish the school year strong!
Wishing you all a safe, joyful, and blessed Spring Break. Enjoy this time, and I look forward to seeing everyone back soon!
With gratitude,
Mrs. Bowden

Free Trees for Kids!
We have had a great response! This is the last week to register.
Join us in celebrating Earth Week: Register your child for a free tree!
This spring, we are thrilled to announce our participation in Neighborhood Forest's 16th Annual Free Tree Program as part of our Earth Week celebrations from April 22nd to 27th!
Since 2010, Neighborhood Forest has mobilized over 2,000 schools, libraries, and youth groups, engaged over 500,000 volunteers, and given over 197,000 children in all 50 states (and 6 provinces in Canada) the opportunity to plant their very own tree.
Check out their 2024 Annual Impact Report!
We are excited to be participating in this wonderful program that teaches youth about the importance of environmental stewardship through the magic and wonder of planting and watching trees grow.
Please fill out the following online registration form by March 15th and receive a free tree (6-12 inches in size) during Earth Week (April 22-27). The tree species will be announced in early April. Neighborhood Forest aims to provide native and / or fruit bearing trees in all regions they serve.

Service Hours & Job Shadowing
Spring Break is right around the corner, and everyone is looking forward to the break!
This is a great time to get those service hours and job shadow hours done if you don't have any other plans. Here is the approval form and log that students will need. Approval forms must be turned in prior to completing the hours.
For service hours, middle school students need 5 hours per semester of service hours. High school students need a minimum of 6 hours per semester. Please refer to the parent/student handbook on the website for guidelines regarding what counts as service hours.
Please remember that all hours are due by May 1, 2025.
Thank you,
Christy Scifres
