Our Mission: “To share the Good News of Jesus Christ, teach children, and assist parents in training children to be witnessing Christians and productive citizens.”
Weekly Devotion
Jesus says, “I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness” (John 12:46).
This year, for the first time, we put out some outdoor Christmas lights, and I think I’m hooked. I’ve already talked about how I’d like to add more next year. Like us, I’m sure many of you already have your Christmas trees and lights up, which brings some much needed light into the house (and our front porch!) as the days grow shorter.
In our verse for this week, Jesus is in Jerusalem, just days before His crucifixion. The days for His earthly ministry are growing shorter. In fact, as we hear on Good Friday, the sun’s light is blotted out from about noon to 3 p.m. as Jesus hung bleeding and dying on the cross. This is what sin does. It turns the shining face of our God away from us in wrath, leaving us to sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.
Jesus came into the world that we would have light. This could be taken to refer to the sunshine, your Christmas lights, and the moon and stars. After all, Paul tells us that all creation is upheld by the crucified and risen Lord Jesus. But even more so, by His death on a dark Friday afternoon, Jesus endures the fact that His Father turns His shining face away from the cross, forsaking the Son as He bears our sin and the sin of the world world. In so doing, the Father now turns His face toward those who believe that Jesus’ death was for them—that He came into the world in order to take our place, being punished for our sin, and to give us His perfect righteousness.
The Prophet, Malachi, says of Jesus, “But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings.” Isaiah says, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.“ Jesus said a few chapters before our verse of the week, “We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Jesus is the true light, who lights the way out of darkness and into the marvelous light of eternal life.
Let us pray: O Savior, child of Mary, who felt our human woe; O Savior, King of glory, Who dost our weakness know: bring us at length we pray to the bright courts of heaven, and to the endless day. Amen.

School Handbook Reminders
Illness
Please review the following reminders from our School Handbook. Thank you for helping us keep students and staff healthy this winter season!
Children who do not feel well at home before school are requested to stay home for the entire school day. Students who vomit over the night or morning should not attend school. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school. Should signs of a serious illness arise while children are at school or an accident occurs, parents will be contacted for further direction. Parents are encouraged to update their emergency information if there is a change in phone number, address, or contact person, etc.
Counting our blessings!
We are richly blessed!
We are richly blessed! During the month of November, the students and staff have been adding to a blessings board. We've taken time to think about the blessings in our lives, from cars and clean water, to families and friends, to teachers and turtles.
Now, during the month of December, we would like students to take a blessing from the board. Students should bring home a card from the board. All month, please include this blessing in your family prayers and devotion. It may be something to be thankful for or people to pray for.
Teachers will also choose a blessing to include in their classroom prayers. In this season of anticipation, we are continuing to show thankfulness to God from whom all blessings flow.
