Wolman Elementary Newsletter

News from Ms. Ricks, Principal
It was wonderful seeing so many parents at Curriculum Night earlier this week! This truly shows that Wolman Elementary has a very supportive parent community that wants to be involved in our Explorers' learning! If you did not have a chance to attend Curriculum Night on Tuesday, please ensure that you are receiving weekly email updates from your child's homeroom teacher as they provide wonderful insight into classroom learning!
We would like to thank all those who participated in our campus Read-a-Thon! Our Explorers have had lots of fun reading and now will get to choose their prizes with their "RAT" bucks! Please review the Read-A-Thon section below for more details!
Teaching expectations is very much woven into our school day as ensuring behavior is well managed helps to set the stage for high levels of learning. It is an expectation at Wolman Elementary that our students use kind and appropriate language during the school day and when riding to and from school on the bus. Direct and/or indirect threats/threatening language is taken seriously as the safety of our students and staff is a priority. We kindly ask that you take a moment to talk with your child about using appropriate/kind language and reporting any language that makes them feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
Tomorrow, we will be promoting creativity and courage during "Dot Day" so don't forget your polka dot attire tomorrow! Also, as another reminder, please leave pets at home when meeting your child at our dismissal areas as animals are not allowed on school property and please be sure that your child does not arrive to school prior to 8:10 a.m. as there are not staff available to monitor.
Please check out the additional school event information and PTA news below! Have a fantastic rest of your week!
Tomorrow is DOT DAY!
New Procedures Regarding Lunch Visitors
It has been great seeing so many lunch visitors! As a reminder only parents/guardians, non-school aged children and immediate family listed on the 24-25 Lunch Visitors Parent Permission form are able to visit for lunch. Due to limited space, visitors are limited to 2 visitors per student. Please note the following: Each parent must sign up for their own seat and a separate seat for any non school age siblings. PLEASE REMEMBER when signing up to include your child's name and teacher in the comments. All visitors must show a physical, hard copy government issued ID (driver's license or passport) when you arrive for lunch. We ask that each student be limited to having a lunch visit one day per week to allow all Explorers the opportunity to have a lunch visit. If you are not able to come to lunch after you signed up, please remove your name from the list. Also, please be aware that a few minutes prior to your child's lunch time ending, the monitors will direct your child to join his/her class; this helps with making our cafeteria exit procedures run more smoothly. The following links will guide you in signing up for lunch times to visit your child and with providing lunch visitor permission. Please call 281 234 1700 with any questions. Thank you!
Wolman Elementary extends a heartfelt THANK YOU to our school community! We're incredibly proud of our readers and grateful for your support, which made our fundraiser a success. Our students had a wonderful time reading. We can't wait to host another Read-A-Thon next year!
If your child participated in Read-a-Thon by collecting donations, they have until 9/27 to shop for prizes with "RAT" bucks. At that time, the prize store will close, and prizes will be shipped to the school for distribution.
Also, donations can be made until 9/27!! So reach out to friends and family for those last minute donations!!
We appreciate our RJWE community, and we can't wait to participate in Read-A-Thon again next year!
Thanks again,
Wolman Elementary

Volunteer of the Month
We are excited to recognize Nikki Tolliver as our first Volunteer of the Month for the 2024-2025 school year!
This is Nikki’s first year serving as Chairperson of our Wolman Teacher’s Workroom, where she also coordinates the essential "Once a Month Volunteer Work Day." Nikki dedicated countless hours before the school year even began, ensuring everything was organized and ready. Since the start of the school year, she has worked tirelessly on daily tasks like copying, stapling, sorting, hole-punching, laminating, and more. Nikki has also taken on the responsibility of coordinating volunteer coverage, training new volunteers, and managing the constant flow of projects, ensuring all are completed by their deadlines. Her incredible dedication and enthusiasm are truly inspiring!
If you see Nikki around the school, be sure to show her some love and thank her for all her hard work and dedication!
