SPEHS Parent/Caregiver Sunday Call

Greetings on Mother's Day to all mothers worldwide, encompassing first mothers, adopted mothers, foster mothers, surrogate mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and all individuals who generously share their maternal guidance and experience with the world. We hope you were able to enjoy this lovely day with those who hold a special place in your heart!

We had the opportunity to honor and appreciate our SPEHS faculty last week. You play a vital role in our family. We are appreciative of your warmth and gratitude toward our staff members. Multicultural Night was a resounding triumph. I appreciate all of your efforts, Mrs. Gardner, in making this evening such a huge success. The Black Student Union (BSU), Hispanic Student Union (HSU), and French Club all provided delicious meals. Performances by the Asian American Club, HSU, and BSU were part of the festivities. We had a terrific time at the 2024 Fire and Ice Prom on Saturday. It's always wonderful to see our scholars dressed up and enjoying themselves.

May has always shown to be a dynamic and captivating month for our students and their families. This week's events and activities are listed on this Parent Call, along with some future events you should be aware of. We have our last AP exam this week, and we're wishing our AP scholars the best of luck on their evaluations.

Later in the month, on May 20, we have Senior Night; on May 21, we have AVID Senior Night; and on May 22, we have 8th-grade high school orientation and the induction into the National Honor Society. These activities are scheduled during the last month of the 2023–2024 academic year. There are department field trips and club end-of-year parties in addition to these events. We eagerly anticipate May 2024 and all of its festivities.

Our Student Service Department engaged in a creative activity with our Cardinal scholars on Wednesday at WIN time. Scholars were allowed to write and record encouraging statements for our entire community in collaboration with our Student Service team.

Reminder: This is your last chance to pick up your senior sign so you can hang it in your yard, Class of 2024. After school, kindly pick up your sign at the main office. Please feel free to ask Mrs. Morris or Mrs. Seymore any questions you may have.

Join us on Monday, May 13th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Culver's on Main Street to support our FFA! A portion of sales are returned to our chapter! Our students will be helping to serve, and you may have a chance to see an animal or two!

After-school tutoring, called 5th Hour, runs every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the LMC after school from 3:50-4:40 p.m. An after-school activity bus will be available at 4:45 pm out door 16 and is available for those that have a bus tag. Please feel free to join if you are looking for a quiet place to study or assistance with any academics.

Due to AP testing in the LMC, 5th Hour is moving to 2210 and 2250 for the next two weeks (May 7-9 and May 14-16). Please report to 2210 initially as 2250 will be used as overflow.
