PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
No School Monday - Labor Day
Success Starts Here was on Wednesday and we had a full house. We enjoyed a great box dinner and discussed the PBIS Expectations Matrix. This Matrix gives examples of what being respectful, responsible, and to have integrity looks like when students are in the classroom, playground, and cafeteria. We used this Matrix to create our own set of expectations of respect, responsibility, and integrity at home, in the car and at a store. This allows us to have a common language at home and at school. It was a powerful start to this year.
From the survey, we found that parents are really interested in learning how to help their students in reading and math. We also learned that families are interested in some parenting tips. So, it sounds like a couple more family nights need to be planned!
I have two important tasks that I need all parents to complete. First, in this SMORE is a ballot to elect our School Site Council Board. Please take a moment to cast your vote.
Second - I still have 97 families who have not completed the Online Data Confirmation. This directly impacts the funds our school receives to spend on students. Also - there is a $120 per student incentive for families to complete this. Please see below for the informaton on completing the confirmation or call our school office at 209-953-8999.
Go Otters!

DISTRICT INFORMATION
School Nutrition
With the start of the new school year, here is a quick reminder regarding food that is sent to school for the classroom. Food that is sent to a classroom as a treat or reward should follow our District Guidelines regarding nutrition. There are several Board Policies that address this issue. Board Policy 5030 - Student Wellness Policy on Physical Activity and Nutrition is one that is useful for your reference.
When you think about sending something to celebrate your child's birthday here are a few things we need to keep in mind. Treats will be passed out the last 10 minutes of the school day. Cupcakes and most cookies do not meet our Board Policies on Nutrition. Check out these policies to see what are considered nutritious treats or send a little token for example pencils, erasers ,or stickers. You can also donate a book to your child's classroom on behalf of your child's special day. Thanks for your help.
ONLINE DATA CONFIRMATION - PLEASE GET THIS DONE FOR OUR SCHOOL
We are increasing the number of families who have completed this important task but we are not there yet. Please, take a moment to do this. You can do it on your phone and the updated information is critical. We cannot notifiy if your child needs you if your information is not current.
The instructions are in the flyer below.
