Buchanan High School Graduation
June 5, 2020 6:00 pm
Graduate Information
Please read carefully!
Important Notes:
This is not a dress up event. Please wear sneakers and comfortable clothes underneath your cap and gown. Masks are encouraged but not mandatory. Feel free to decorate your masks, caps, but more importantly your vehicles. All decorations must be school appropriate. This is a school-sponsored event so all school rules must be followed (i.e. no smoking, no vaping, no alcohol).
At the senior cruise, each graduate was given three passes for entrance into the event. One pass MUST be used for the vehicle containing the graduate and parent/guardian driver. It is recommended that graduates do not drive themselves. In order to capitalize on the photo opportunities, a parent/guardian should drive the graduate. Feel free to have other passengers from your family in the car with you. The other two passes may be given to spectators/family members. All attendees will remain in their vehicles at ALL times. All graduates are limited to three vehicles due to spacing and viewing restraints.
It is recommended that everyone uses the restroom before attending the event because school bathrooms will be closed. Two porta potties will be available at RedBud but it will be a bit of a walk.
The ceremony will be broadcasted over an FM channel (station to be determined). Barring any complications, the event will be live streamed for those who cannot attend. A link will be provided.
A final highlight video of the event will be provided to students.
A huge thank you to the Ritchie family and DPM Events. Please be respectful of the property and equipment. Clean up after yourself. Feel free to say thank you on your way out.
Graduation Procedure:
Graduates (one car per graduate family) driven by a parent or guardian will report to the high school student parking lot and park in alphabetical numbered order. Students were given their parking lot number at the senior cruise. Mrs. Hess, Mrs. Neal, and Mr. Brinks will be on site to help graduates get in the correct order. Graduates need to report to their spot at 5:15PM. All passengers are to remain in their vehicles during this process. There will be NO opportunities to congregate or take pictures outside of your vehicle. Graduate vehicles will then be led by a police escort, Mrs. Hess, Mrs. Neal, and Mr. Brinks at 5:45PM to RedBud.
Upon arriving at RedBud, graduate vehicles will follow Mrs. Hess/Mrs. Neal to the staging area. Mrs. Hess will direct graduate vehicles one at a time to the stage. The graduate will then exit the vehicle and wait by the stage for their name to be called. The graduate will then walk up the stage to receive their diploma cover from Mrs. Tobler, the School Board Vice President. Mrs. Tobler will place the diploma cover on a table and then the graduate may pick it up. No handshakes will be given. During this process, the passengers in the vehicle may take pictures of their graduate without leaving their car. The graduate will then re-enter their vehicle and be driven to the diploma tent where Mrs. DeMaio and Mrs. Neal will be waiting to give you your real certified diploma. The graduate will also have their picture taken while turning their tassel by a professional photographer. Photos will be available for purchase. All graduates received order information at the senior cruise. Passengers may feel free to take pictures of this process while remaining in their vehicles.
Graduate vehicles will then be directed to the back of the parking area to be parked for the remainder of the ceremony. All passengers MUST remain in their vehicles.
When the ceremony is over and Mrs. DeMaio dismisses the Class of 2020, feel free to celebrate within your vehicle and honk your horns. Graduate vehicles will be escorted out of the property. The school campus will not be open for pictures and no one will be allowed to congregate.
Congratulations, kiddos!
