Monty Money Winners!
Monty's Corner: Pumpkin Fun!
Tigers,
WOW! The Pumpkins are incredible this year for the 22nd annual contest! It is such a joyous week seeing all of the hard work and love that each family has put into their design. The students love coming down to see the pumpkins and celebrate the work of all our designers!
Next week is our 1/2 day Halloween celebration! Please make sure that your student is dressed and ready to go in their costumes when you drop them off in the morning so they can enjoy their classroom celebrations.
We are changing it up this year and will have the parade at the end of the morning starting around 10:50 am which means that anyone watching the parade can line up outside the building to enjoy the parade. This also means that students may leave with their parent/guardian after the parade.
Mark your Calendars:
10/31: 1/2 day for Students. HALLOWEEN PARADE FOR WHOLE SCHOOL: will be at 10:50am this year so then students are able to leave right after parade. Parents/Grandparents/Guardians are welcome to come and line up around the school to enjoy the parade! We will come out the front door around the playground and back through the 1st grade doors.
11/5: Election Day (No School)
11/12: PICTURE RETAKE or MAKE UP DAY

Can I bring in birthday treats for my child’s birthday?
We celebrate birthdays at Monteith by giving each student a birthday book and bookmark during their birthday month.
Due to the large number of student allergies, we no longer can allow any type of birthday cakes, cupcakes or cookies in the elementary schools (except for teacher scheduled celebrations) . Please save the present celebrations for home parties. If students want to bring in a small goodie bag of non-edible items ( Ex: pop-its, pencils, etc.) that is allowed but not necessary. If you do send in something with your child it needs to be for the whole class not just a couple students.
Kindness matters at Monteith and Always!
Boomerang Winners
The Boomerang: What you give to the world you get back...So give KINDNESS
Our first Boomerang award winners of the year are Mrs. Wallace (3rd Grade) and Mrs. Radomski (SSW).
Mrs. Wallace is an incredible teacher who is dedicated to her job and makes sure that her students always come first. She brings joy and happiness to those around her and she values the relationships she has built with the Monteith Community and we know that the students value the love and care she puts into everything she does.
Mrs. Radomski joined us this year to help with Social Work well Ms. Jo is on leave. As an adminstrator and a parent myself, I can't tell you enough how important the Social Worker role is to the well being of our educational community. When Mrs. Radomski stepped in, she stepped in with both feet and has been supporting students, staff , and families. We are so fortuntate to have her at Monteith and we wish we could have her and Ms. Jo together because they would be an incredible team for the mental health of our community.
Inflatable Day Fun!

Library News
The library was full of fall-filled fun this week. Young 5's through 2nd grade heard the story A Bold Pumpkin Plan by Katy Hudson and learned about the design plan, working as a team and asking friends for help to complete important tasks. Then each grade was asked to design a new pumpkin house for hedgehog from the book. Young 5's and Kindergarten drew their houses. 1st grade drew a realistic pumpkin with Art for Kids Hub then designed it into a house. Finally, 2nd graders learned how to use Google Drawing and created a house for hedgehog on the computer. 3rd and 4th graders continues working on their reader's theatre plays, creating their title slides and recording their voices into Adobe Express to share with everyone for a spooky story time.
Music News
4th graders are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their recorders! We are practicing reading and writing the lines and spaces of the treble clef so we are ready to play in November.
Art News
Fourth grade students learned about the human body and human proportion. We studied how certain body parts can be measured in relation to other body parts. Did you know that the length between your wrist and your elbow is the same length as your foot? Students practiced drawing human skeletons using their knowledge of human proportion. Next, students drew a skeleton on black paper creating contrast between black and white. We focused on making the bones look real and having at least one moving body part. Lastly, we added something fun to our skeleton.
