Another important part of the CKH process is the Social Contract. A Social Contract establishes the guidelines and expectations for how students and teachers will treat each other. In each class, students worked together to develop this contract, and the teacher acted as a facilitator to encourage discussion. The development of the Social Contract has provided students with the opportunity to take ownership of their behaviors and actions. Since Social Contracts have been established, teachers will begin to introduce and implement two additional hand signals for students to self-regulate and hold each other accountable to the Social Contract.
When a student has a misstep and breaks the Social Contract, the teacher will ask the student four questions to redirect the behavior and help the student get back on track. The Four Questions will be used consistently school-wide.
The Four Questions are:
- What are you doing?
- What are you supposed to be doing?
- Are you doing it?
- What are you going to do about it?
If a student continues to break the contract, the teacher will ask the four questions again and add a fifth question.

As part of CKH, we have a 5 step plan which is our school wide steps utilized when a student breaks the social contract.
1- Warning = Social Contract (teacher reviews the contract)
2- 4 Questions (then 4 Questions and additional question)
3- Mustang Moment (Buddy Teacher) (student visits a buddy teacher
classroom with a Think Sheet)
4- Parent Phone Call
5- Behave Out (with Admin)
*Note, extreme behavior disturbances are handled immediately by administration.

Reminders for this Week
- IMPORTANT Reminder: Parents of walkers should NOT drive and park to pick up students. This is not safe and it throws off our carlines at dismissal. Only true walkers will be released from the front of the school.
- The weekly newsletter can be translated to a variety of languages. Please click the "Translate" button on the top right side and select your language.

- Students may enter the school building starting at 7:00am. The school day begins promptly at 7:45am. Be sure your child is in the building before then. If your child needs breakfast, it is best to have him/her at school by 7:30am.
- Car riders should NOT enter at the front office door. That entrance is only for walkers and parents who need to do business in the front office.
- Please be sure any transportation changes are sent to the teacher, in writing the day of the change. We cannot accept these over the phone.
- Breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year. If you would like to put money on your child’s lunch account, you may do so through My School Bucks, cash, or check. If you would like to limit your child’s spending on snacks, you may do so by contacting our cafeteria manager, Julie Hardwick, at 355-6708.
- Parents are welcome to join students for breakfast. Please be sure to sign-in at the front office with your license first.
- Dismissal begins at 2:15pm. If you are not here by 2:30pm, you will need to go to the office with your driver's license to sign your student out.
