If you are 65 or older, you may file a homestead application at any time, or contact your appraisal district to see if you already have the appropriate exemption on file.

What will the Bond Election Cost the Citizens of Miles ISD
Last November, Statewide voters approved an increase in the State’s Homestead Exemption from $40,000 to $100,000. The average MISD homeowner would expect to have received a $634 annual reduction in school taxes with the $100,000 Homestead Exemption.
Based on the District’s current tax base, the proposed bond program is estimated to impact the District’s current bond tax rate by $0.20 per $100 valuation. For the average MISD home worth $225,000 with the $100,000 Homestead Exemption, it would be an impact of $20.83 a month. It is important to note that the overall tax rate in MISD has decreased by $0.46 since 2017.
Below is the calculated homeowner impact with the assumed $100,000 Homestead Exemption.
