From the Principal
Welcome Back!
It was wonderful to see everyone return to school this week, despite the chilly weather.
Report cards are being sent home today. Please take some time to review them with your child. These reports reflect their progress in meeting grade-level learning standards.
-
Understanding the Scores:
- Scores of 1 or 2 indicate that your child is still actively learning and developing these skills, not that they have failed.
- Please refer to the grading scale below for more information.
-
Data for Instruction:
- Teacher utlize a variety of data sources, including classroom assignments, benchmarks, iReady, and ILEARN checkpoints. This data helps teachers tailor instruction for their classes and provide additional support to students in need.
We look forward to a successful and productive second semester!

Rules and Expectations
High Ability Identification
All 2nd and 5th grade students will be administered the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) as the initial screener in the High Ability identification process. If your child is in 3rd or 4th grade, not already identified as High Ability, and you would like them to be screened, please email Mrs. Tidd at tidds@maconaquah.k12.in.us with an explanation as to why you feel they should be tested by January 17. Once the email is received, you will receive a response with a form to complete for the process.
If you have questions regarding high ability, the High Ability Program Description is available on the Maconaquah website under parent resources.
Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for studentsβ academic success. When students miss school, they often miss important lessons, assignments, and opportunities for interaction with their classmates and teachers. This can lead to falling behind in their studies and feeling discouraged. Itβs essential for students to attend school consistently to build a strong foundation for their education and future goals.
If your child will not be at school, you must leave the reason for your child's absence when calling into the attendance line. Thank you!
