On Monday, November 11th, we will welcome our Veteran's to South Elementary. We have had over 100 Veterans respond to this event!! With this large crowd, it is imperative that everyone park in the back parking lot by door 8. Please see more information below regarding this exciting day!
We have lots of information packed in today's newsletter regarding Holiday Help, Riley Dress Up Day, Thanksgiving Reading Challenges and so much more! We appreciate all of your support!
Yours in education,

Veteran's Day - November 11th at 9 AM
Danville South Elementary is happy to share that we will host “Take a Veteran to School Day” on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Veterans are asked to arrive at 9:00 AM and check in at the registration table at Door 2. Parking is available at the front entrance (Doors 1 and 2) and at our Gymnasium Entrance at Door 8 (south side of the building). Overflow parking will be available at the transportation parking lot across from South Elementary. Veterans will meet together in the cafeteria to be welcomed by our K-Kids prior to going to the classrooms.
Classroom activities will take place until approximately 9:45 am and then our Veterans will be dismissed in style with a “Parade of Heroes,” giving students an opportunity to honor our visitors. Please note that our school has a much larger footprint now and there will be moderate walking involved in our program.
Holiday Help
During the holidays, a number of organizations and individuals provide for families in need of assistance in the Danville Community School Corporation. Bus Riders
StopFinders is an innovative app to keep your children safer and make your morning easier. This free app will send you and your child alerts when the bus is near. Learn more by going to https://stopfinder.com/parents/.
Walkers/Bike Riders
All walkers must follow the sidewalk up to the building on the west side of our main drive. Students will be entering door #15 on the northwest corner of the building. We also ask that parents notify our office at southoffice@danville.k12.in.us if their child will be walking to or from school. This allows us to keep a list and be on the lookout for them in the morning to ensure safe arrival.
A bicycle rack is available outside door #15 for any bike riders.
Please help your child time their arrival as close to 7:25 a.m. as possible.
