This is a reminder that under Illinois law, all drivers must stop their vehicle when a school bus extends its stop arm and activates its flashing red lights. The safety of our students is paramount, and adhering to this safety measure helps to ensure their protection as students enter or exit the bus while at BHS, as well as within the community.
New Attendance Feature in IC Parent Portal
Barrington 220 values student attendance. For a student to have a successful experience, the student must be present in class. Any absence from school is a missed learning opportunity for your child. Each month we're sharing attendance facts with you in our Attention to Attendance section. This month we're focusing on a new attendance feature within the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Parents/Guardians can now attach a note related to the absence when reporting their student absent. Parents/Guardians will have the option to upload one document. This will be helpful in the collection of verification notes for medical appointments. Click here for more information about the district's attendance protocols.
Attendance Records
BHS Parents/Guardians,
As we approach the end of the semester, we encourage you to review your student's attendance records prior to Monday, December 16, 2024. If you have any questions or concerns about your student's attendance record, please contact the Attendance Office as soon as possible for assistance at (847) 756-2300.
Senior SPURS (Student Pride Unites and Rewards Seniors) was developed to reward students for having good attendance, grades, and behavior. Students who meet the SPURS criteria are exempt from their second final exams.
Please view this document for the exemption criteria.
First Semester Capstone Day Attendance Reminders
As we approach the end of the semester, this is a good time to reinforce the importance of student attendance on the Capstone Days. While the format of capstone experiences may differ from course to course, the learning activities during these days are an essential culmination of the semester. Like every other school day during the semester, students will have an experience for all their rostered classes and should plan to attend. Further, Barrington High School remains a closed campus during these days. If a student needs to leave the building, a parent/guardian must follow attendance procedures, and the student must sign out at the Attendance Office. Similarly, if a student returns to campus after signing out, the student must sign in at the Attendance Office upon return. Students with Self-Directed Study during the day’s first Capstone Period of the day may arrive late. Similarly, students with Self-Directed or Lunch during the last Capstone period of the day may leave campus without signing out at attendance. Students cannot return to campus to ride the bus home in these instances.
ALL classes, including resource and academic support classes, will meet to support students in wrapping up the semester.

Final Capstone Makeups
Students can coordinate with their teacher or the testing center to make up Capstones or other unfinished tests and quizzes during an open period. In addition, December 20, 2024 from 1:20 - 3:20 p.m. has been designated as a make-up period for students. The testing center will also be open on January 6th 2025 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. for select make-ups.
Parents and Students-
Please read this letter informing you of structural changes that will be implemented regarding the Mid Suburban League for the 2025-26 school year. These changes will support our student-athletes by providing them with competitively balanced opportunities.
BHS JUNIORS - OPTIONAL ACT PREP
On April 8th, 2025 Juniors will be taking the ACT at Barrington High School. For students or families looking for additional prep we recommend that students use the free resources available from the ACT website.
In addition, many private companies offer fee-based test prep programs. There are a large variety of options that families can look into on their own, one such program is offered by Academic Tutoring & Test Prep. They will be offering an ONLINE prep program in the evenings for 8 weeks leading up to the April ACT, These online classes are open only to BHS students. More info can be found in this Flier.
More info about BHS Standardized Testing is on our website.
