Bus Expectations Reminder
March 14th, 2025
Dear Woodland Families,
We hope this message finds you well! We are reaching out to ask for your support in reviewing and reinforcing the expectations for bus behavior with your child. Recently, we’ve noticed an increase in behavior concerns on the buses, and we want to work together to ensure that all students feel welcome, safe, and treated with kindness while riding the bus. It’s important that students stay in their seats, follow the driver’s instructions, and show respect for one another.
For your reference, the school handbook outlines the following “Riding the Bus” expectations:
Children should listen carefully to the driver's instructions.
They should get on the bus quickly and be seated. Children may be expected to sit 3 in a seat.
Children are expected to keep the bus clean. Eating on the bus is not allowed.
Students should keep all parts of their bodies inside the bus.
Children should remain in their seats when the bus is moving.
Children should restrict their talking to those children sitting next to them.
Shouting is not allowed.
Additionally, we continue to promote our CARES expectations on the bus. Students can earn CARES tickets both in school and on the bus. These tickets are then placed in grade-level jars, and every morning, we draw names to reward students with certificates and stickers. If your child brings a CARES ticket home, please remind them to put it in their backpack so it can be dropped off in the office the following morning.
As a school, we will also continue to reinforce these expectations with students and provide reminders to ensure that everyone is doing their part in creating a positive and safe bus environment.
We greatly appreciate your help in reviewing these expectations with your child and reinforcing their importance at home. Your partnership in this effort is key to ensuring that all students have a great experience.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
Emma and Kayla (and all the bus drivers!)
