Some Principles when Writing Quality Endings for Fictional Narratives
Keep in mind what your story is really about and make sure the ending helps to show that.
Pay attention to the structure of the story and make sure the ending fits the arc
Has the character evolved (changed)?
How has the plot developed?
Ensure that all loose ends are tied up.
Notice how this ending has several principles for quality endings.
What is the story really about? Did you notice how this ending scene, which captures the connection between Harry and his family and between Harry and his friends, highlights one big thing that this book/ movie is about-- the power of love? Point to number one on chart (what this story is really about)
Notice how the character evolved / changed.
And did you notice a confident harry in this final scene, the film/book shows him evolved from the miserable kid a the start. (Point to 2.a on the chart

The book /film ending also addresses point three by giving Harry something he did not have at the beginning of the story, Harry desperately wanted -- knowledge of his parents, which the photo album from Hagried represents. This shows how the plot was developed. Point to 2.b
