December 20, 2024

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Welcome Back, Mustang Families!
Happy New Year! As we kick off 2025, we are filled with excitement for the opportunities and fresh beginnings that a new year brings. The start of January feels like a blank page, ready for us to write a story of growth, success, and Mustang pride together.
This is the perfect time to reflect on all we’ve accomplished so far and set our sights on finishing the school year strong. Whether it’s striving for academic excellence, showing up for one another as a community, or celebrating our students’ successes both big and small, we’re ready to make this second half of the year unforgettable.
I encourage you to talk with your students about their goals for the remainder of the school year. What are they most excited about? What are their hopes for their classes, activities, and friendships? It’s amazing how small conversations can spark big inspiration.
Thank you, as always, for being a part of our ERHS family. Your support and partnership are what makes this community so special. Let’s continue being the BEST at getting better!
Here’s to a fantastic start to 2025 and an even stronger finish to the school year.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Montgomery
ERHS Principal
New Cell Phone Policy
Recently, our School Board approved a new cell phone policy to support a more focused learning environment.
We want our Mustangs to Be their BEST and promote responsible use of technology to ensure that classrooms remain spaces for effective learning.
ERHS and eSTEM students may use personal cell phones, earbuds, smartwatches, and other smart devices on campus during non-instructional time (lunches and passing periods) as long as the device is utilized in accordance with law and our ERHS school rules. During instructional time, cell phones must be silenced or turned off and placed in the student’s backpack, locker, or other storage system.
This new cell phone policy and its implementation at ERHS is grounded in progressive discipline, for repeated infractions, while also offering supportive measures to help students manage, reflect, and eliminate cell phone use during instructional time.
Additional details about the policy and its implementation will be shared in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to student success!
Bike Safety Updates
New Procedures for Bikes, Scooters, and Skateboards on Scholar Way
To enhance student safety and improve traffic flow on campus, we are implementing new procedures for bicycles, scooters, and skateboards entering and exiting via Scholar Way.
Morning Arrival Procedures (Starting at 8:00 AM):
New Check-In Area: An additional check-in point for bicycles, scooters, and skateboards will be available at the gate between the Aquatics Center and the Gymnasium. This will provide students with better access to the school's bike racks.
Restricted Locking Areas: Bicycles and scooters are no longer permitted to be locked to the handicap railings and light poles in front of the campus. School personnel will remove any bikes or scooters secured in these areas.
Afternoon Dismissal Procedures:
Gate Closure: The large gate by the pool will be closed after school hours.
Designated Exit Route: Students with bicycles, scooters and skateboards will be directed to exit campus by passing the blacktop and proceeding down the homeside fire lane. This route leads to Scholar Way past the student pickup parking lot.
We will provide students with additional information and directions about these new procedures during school and in next week’s Friday Flash newsletter.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and efficient campus environment.
