Parent Update Week of October 21

Message from Mrs. Brauchle

Dear Mini Pirate Parents,

The world will FALL BACK in a few weeks (time change on Nov. 3rd). This is a great time to reset our inner clocks and make sure we are all getting the rest we need to be productive. When it gets dark earlier outside, hopefully, our Mini Pirates will be able to get to bed at a sensible time. Just as we are working on academics here, we are also focusing on supporting positive behaviors for life. Instructional minutes begin at 7:45am each day, and students are counted tardy at 8:15am. It is imperative that students are in class the full day so they receive all areas of instruction. Our October tardy report was 6 pages long!!! We are here to support and work with you and your child, but ultimately the adults must get the child to our campus doors.

Teaching our Mini Pirates their education is important starts with you! Please let us know how we can support you. I have attached the M.I.S.D. Tardy Policy and it is linked in our Student Code of Conduct for your reference.

Enjoy that extra hour of sleep on Nov. 2nd! I'm sure we can ALL use it.

Mathis Elementary will kick off Red Ribbon Week at 9am on Monday, Oct. 28th with a Red Ribbon Parade! The parade route has been updated for safety. Parents may watch a portion of the parade from the pavilion off of Lee St.

Visitors will sit with THEIR child only. Please do not invite family members or friends to join you on stage.
Parents, please be mindful that videoing and taking photos of students other than your child is prohibited! You will be asked to leave campus if this happens.
No gifts for students during lunch.

Mathis Elementary serves free breakfast to all students from 7:15am to 8:15am. Students arriving at school after 8:15 will no longer receive breakfast.
