FLMS
December 5, 2024
December 16- 20 will be filled with SPIRIT here at FLMS!
What’s cooking at FLMS:
Good afternoon, FLMS Community,
It's been a great week as we returned rested and ready for December. Our FreeLake Leaders have been busy at work under the leadership of Ms. Jolly, decking the halls of all three floors. It's so great to see them busy at work after school, making sure that the halls look festive and fun for our Lakers. They came up with a theme for each floor, and have been adorning the walls all week. Thank you, FreeLake Leaders!
Grade 6 Parents!! Amy Sypher, the president of the PTO is wrapping up her leadership role at the end of this school year as her son graduates! We are so grateful for her dedication to this group, but we need to bring in some 6th grade parents to transition in as our 8th grade parents "graduate." This group meets online once a month in the evening, and take part in a few school events throughout the school year. Fundraising and planning for dance, book fair, and other events are just some of the things we do. I would LOVE TO HAVE YOU ON BOARD! PLEASE EMAIL ME if I can count on you to help. Thank you so much- jfrancisco@freelake.org
Basketball season has begun! Our boys and girls teams each were victorious this week against Dighton. Next week, we have Norton and Old Rochester- on the 9th and 11th. Concessions are available at the games for purchase (PTO- Cash only).
We will have 8 more home games here at FLMS, and invite any students who want to cheer on their classmates to do so- but those who want to do this NEED to have permission from parents to stay after and watch the games. Here is a GOOGLE FORM that parents should use to give permission for students to attend any or all of the games (parents need to select the games they give permission for). If a student does not have permission, we will make sure that they make it home safely on the bus as per usual. Thank you!

A letter was emailed home regarding this important opportunity to meet with your child's teacher. If your child is struggling or you would like to speak with their teacher/s, please don't forget to sign up for a slot as these are going fast. Of course, you can always reach out to our amazing staff if you would like to talk or meet, but this release time day is designed for just that.
Here is the letter that was sent for your convenience:
Freetown-Lakeville Middle School is hosting our annual Parent Conferences on Thursday, December 12th, from 12:00pm - 2:10pm and 5:30-7:30pm. We look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your student’s academic progress.
Once again, this year our school is utilizing the online scheduling tool, PTCFast.com, to make signups for our conferences as convenient as possible. Please follow the instructions below to sign up for a conference time:
Enter the following web address into your browser window (or click this link): https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/FLMS
Select the teachers that you would like to see
Enter the required sign-up information, and a confirmation email will be sent to you with a link
Follow the link to select the times for each teacher, add another student, or add more teachers
When selecting times, please be sure to give yourself enough time between appointments to move from one classroom to another. It is recommended that you leave a 5 minute period in between each conference, particularly when moving from a team classroom to a special or vice versa
Please note that the meetings are limited to 5 minutes for each teacher. If you think that you will need more time, please contact the teacher to arrange a date and time during the regular school day.
If you do not have internet access or are having trouble using the website, please contact Chris Kenworthy at 508-923-3518 x 2175 or ckenworthy@freelake.org
Activities and Events:
Yearbooks are on sale! It’s easy to order online or a form can be picked up at the main office.
Basketball:
As we roll out the Winter Basketball season, I will share here the home game dates. The expectation for students to attend these is the following:
- Please use this GOOGLE FORM to let us know that you give specific permission for your child to stay for the game/s (you will be able to select any one or several).
- Any student who wishes to stay after to watch the boys and girls games (they begin at 3PM) will sit in the cafeteria from 2:05 to 2:55 while awaiting the start of the game. Students will be held to the same behavioral expectations as while school is in session. If a parent has not given permission via the above form, we will make sure that they are not staying, and are heading home safely.
