News and Notes
Buffalos,
Thank you so much for participating in our 4 days of celebrating Grandparents. We so enjoyed getting to meet all of our special guests, and we averaged 200 Grandparents daily.
Additionally, our Spirit Wear is here! We've partnered with Wig Out Tees to be able to provide you with endless opportunities to order throughout the year! The store will remain open all year so keep checking back for new items!
With Buffalo Pride,

BES Art Corner
Harold and the Purple Crayon is a classic book written by Crocket Johson and also currently a movie in theaters! Kindergartens loved hearing this story while they each got to have their own "magic purple crayon" to draw their own scene, just like Harold!
The Dot is an inspirational book by Peter H Reynolds, where a young girl who struggles with drawing, finds the person, her art teacher, who believes and encourages her to "just make a mark and see where it takes you." International Dot Day is September 15th! Every student at BES will be decorating their own dot, as I will be turning it into
a collaborative piece! Picture of this will come next week!
1st graders finished their Piet Mondrian art, decorated their dot and started our next big school wide art style, POP ART! They were introduced to Andy Warhol, the father of the Pop Art Movement!
2nd grade wrapped up their positive and negative space art, started and almost finished their butterfly art! These students learned how Monarch butterflies migrate and preserve through many lifecycles to reach their migration place.
3rd and 4th grade students decorated their dot and also started on their next project, drawing a cake with a slice removed! They were so excited!
5th and 6th graders decorated their dot and was introduced to Andy Warhol and started their first pop art piece, Marilyn Monroe and a Cola-Cola bottle!
I love teaching art to your child, and I hope that I am one of the teachers who "makes a mark" in your child's life!
