Principal Thoughts
One of the most important lessons young people learn as they grow is that responsibility and consequences go hand in hand. As students mature, they gain the freedom to make more of their own decisions—how they manage their time, how they treat others, how much effort they put into their work. But with that freedom comes the reality that every choice carries a result. This isn’t a negative thing; rather, it is a fundamental part of personal growth. Learning to own both the successes and setbacks that come from our choices is what builds true responsibility and character.
As educators and parents, it can be tempting to shield students from the natural consequences of their decisions, whether it’s redoing a missed assignment for them, smoothing over a conflict, or making excuses on their behalf. While well-intentioned, this approach can unintentionally delay the development of personal accountability. When students experience the direct connection between their actions and outcomes—both positive and challenging—they gain the resilience and responsibility needed for adulthood. Our role is to support them, guide them, and help them reflect, but ultimately, responsibility means standing by our decisions and learning from them. After all, the most valuable lessons often come not from being rescued, but from navigating challenges with the confidence that we are capable of growth.

She attends Knight Time or comes before school to make sure she understands the material. She works hard during class and actively participates in the learning process.
