GOOD NEWS CALL
The "Good News Call" recognizes students who go out of their way to do something kind for others or show exceptional actions without being prompted. It's a way to celebrate those who go above and beyond. As J.C. Watts Jr. said, "Character is about doing the right thing even when no one is watching."
DOLPHIN DINER/VIP LOUNGE

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are thrilled to share that the VIP Lounge is returning for our students, starting Monday! This special opportunity recognizes students who demonstrate important character traits throughout the school year.
Each student selected will get to enjoy the VIP Lounge and invite a friend to join them for the entire week. The first week, teachers will choose a student who best represents the character trait, and for the next two weeks, students will vote for a peer who has demonstrated that quality.
Character Traits & Dates
⭐ Perseverance – Weeks of 2/3, 2/10, 2/24
⭐ Respect – Weeks of 3/3, 3/10, 3/17
⭐ Independence – Weeks of 3/24, 3/31, 4/7
⭐ Diversity, Inclusion, Equity – Weeks of 4/14, 4/28, 5/5
⭐ Empathy – Weeks of 5/12, 5/19, 5/27
For Kindergarten and 1st Grade, due to lunch schedules, students will have VIP Lounge privileges on the following days:

We encourage you to talk with your child about these important character traits and celebrate their efforts to embody them. We can’t wait to see our students shine!

In first grade we are continuing to focus on PRIDE and incorporating those skills into our every day lives in order to exhibit integrity. Our phonics focus is on long vowel silent e words (take, like, bone, mute, theme). Our reading focus is Non Fiction vs. Fiction and our writing shifts from Opinion writing to Informational writing. We continue to work on addition and subtraction within 20 and skip counting by 5's and 10's to 120 (our first grade target number). We are wrapping up our lights and sounds science unit and discussing "Me on the map" in social studies!

First grade has been busy having a blast. We have been learning about Magic E, fiction and non-fiction books, and writing opinion pieces. We have learned about number lines, comparing numbers, word problems, and coins. In science we have been learning about how sounds are created from vibrations and about how light works. In the near future we will begin to work on writing informational texts and plant and animal survival in science. First grade is looking forward to a Valentine’s Day celebration on Friday February 14th.

GRADE 5C JANUARY 2025
We finished the planets and are now studying the stars in science. Students made stargazers to have an image of constellations in the night sky so they can go out and see the winter stars. In math we have been working with decimal numbers.
4F SCIENCE - We finished our unit on electricity. Now we have begun a new unit on Earth Science. We looked at volcanoes and where they seem to pop up around the Earth observing the locations and mountain ranges and islands formed by volcanic activity. They jig sawed the world map and each group used coordinates to draw the volcano symbol on their portion of the world map. In math we have been working on rounding, adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers and elapsed time.
