Final Forms
Please update FinalForms for the 24-25 school year. All emergency medical and informational forms need to be completed. If no information has changed, you will still need to verify and re-sign forms for this school year. New this year, students and parents will review and acknowledge receipt of the student handbooks in FinalForms.
Attendance Awareness Month
September is attendance awareness month. Every day counts and matters! Some ways you can help: communicate with the school, make attendance a priority, and help your child stay healthy and engaged. See the following document for more details.
Electronic Devices
We appreciate all your support as we have started the school year!
Just a few reminders about our electronic device policy in the building:
- Students are not permitted to use or have their electronic devices during school hours.
- Students' electronic devices will be turned off and will be placed in their locker, or first period classroom.
- All classrooms are equipped with a secure cabinet for the storage of personal electronic devices.
- Students will be released at 2:30 and will pick up their devices at the end of the day from their first period class or locker.
After one reminder, on the 2nd infraction students will be placed on a phone contract having to place their electronic devices in their first period classroom. Parents will be notified of infractions at this level and beyond.
Homecoming 2024
Homecoming Week is coming up! There will be activities and events the week of September 30th - October 4th. The WHS Homecoming Dance will be the evening of October 5th.
From September 9th-October 4th students will need to be in good standing to attend the dance:
Students cannot have more than 2 unexcused absences or tardies
Students cannot be suspended from school or have in-school restriction
Please review all dance guidelines prior to the dance.
Senior Graduation Meeting
There will be a senior meeting on Thursday, September 5th at 9:05am in the auditeria during Flex. Herff Jones will be here to talk to Seniors about ordering caps, gowns, and announcements. If your child has CCP classes or is off campus for any portion of the day, please have them plan to attend this meeting. Students that attend Laurel Oaks will have Herff Jones visiting on September 13th.
Closed Lunch Policy
WHS has a closed lunch policy. Below are a few reminders from the student handbook. This information was reviewed with students in class meetings.
Wilmington High School does not have an open lunch policy. Students must remain in the building for lunch.
Outside food should not be delivered or dropped off for any student at the school.
Parents/Guardians are not to call/sign-out students for lunch.
All WCS studenta are automatically eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch meal at no charge. Please note that the program covers a full breakfast and lunch meal. Extra food or รก la carte items will incur a charge.
Parent Teacher Conferences
We are looking forward to a great year! Our goal is to meet with each and every family at WHS this school year for a parent-teacher conference in the building.
What will this look like? Each family will get to meet with a teacher representative at one of the parent teacher conference nights this year. During this time, we want to discuss current academic goals and progress, activity involvement, interests, and plans for after high school. We also want to give you the opportunity to provide us with your feedback and suggestions.
Here are the scheduled conferences for the 24-25 school year: September 26, November 14, February 20, and March 20.
Please anticipate an invitation from a WHS staff member for one of these dates. We look forward to meeting with you on our campus and strengthening the partnerships between the school and home.
Dentist Visit
We are excited to have the mobile dentist coming to Wilmington Middle School and Wilmington High School on September 26 and 27, 2024.
Our school has partnered with Smile Programs and mobile dentists to offer in-school dental care. Sign up your child today at www.myschooldentist.com. Even better, dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted including Medicaid and CHIP. For those without insurance, a low cost self-pay option is available.
