SLMS Tardy Policy
School attendance is one of the most important factors for success, starting in elementary school, but becoming even more crucial during middle and high school. Our school start time is 8:45 am, since research shows that students in middle and high school perform better with a later morning start to their classes. When students are tardy, they miss important instruction, and also start the day or their class at a deficit.
Students who accrue 5 tardies will serve an after school detention for 45 minutes. During detention, they may work on assignments and makeup work to make up for the missed time. Tardies between classes will also count towards detention. If your child accrues 5 tardies, we will contact you to discuss the issue and how we can support your child getting to school/class on time.
SLMS Executive Commitee
SLMS has an Executive Committee comprising members of the school and district community. Members may include parents of SLMS students, parents of children within the Rincon Valley School District, teachers, and representatives from the community. This year, the executive committee will be important, as they will examine the charter renewal and help determine site goals. If you are interested in serving on the Executive Committee, please contact Hannah Bates, hbates@rvusd.org. The SLMS Executive Committee meets quarterly at 4:00 pm, and our first meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 14. Executive Committee meetings are open to the public, and the parents are encouraged to attend.

Transportation
RVUSD provides bus transportation to students who live within district boundaries. To sign up for transportation for the 2024-2025 school year, you will need to complete and submit the Transportation Request Form attached below. Please return the form to the SLMS office. Please also see linked below the list of current bus routes and approved stops. Buses transport students to SLMS from each of the district elementary schools, and return them to the elementary schools in the afternoon; those sites are in bold on the bus routes shown below.
After School Clubs and Homework Club
SLMS currently has a number of after school club options, as well as Homework Club. Clubs are generally free, although sometimes a donation to help support club activities is requested. Homework club is after school for one hour Mondays through Thursdays, and offers a space and support to work on classwork and homework in a quiet environment. Although SLMS does not have before or after school care, students can attend clubs and activities to help provide support for after school time.
If you are interested in your child attending Homework Club, please fill out the form below. Homework Club will begin on Monday, August 26th.
