Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
BHS students officially finished their last day of the first semester for the 2024-2025 school year! How exciting for everyone to head into winter break for a few weeks to rest and regroup for January. This newsletter is the last one you will receive until Friday, January 10, 2025.
Our students wrapped up some of their End of Course obligations, completed final projects during our Flex A and B days, and had time to celebrate holiday festivities with their friends.
Our BHS teachers will be at work on Friday, December 20th. Please understand that after December 20th, they will not be available until their return on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Grades will be posted in Progress Book on January 9, 2025. You will be able to check your student’s second quarter/first semester grades then.
Thank you for helping us make this first half of the year a success. We wish all of you a wonderful winter break!
In service to our Bulldogs.

BHS has launched The Write Place, a writing center that provides support for students with any type of writing tasks. The Write Place is a student-led program that has shown huge gains for high school writers.
BHS Hope Squad Students Play the Oven Mitt Holiday Game
Hope Squad students opened gifts using oven mitts. This activity was a way for the students to note how others overcome frustrations and deal with challenges differently. What a creative way for high school students to broaden their understanding of others.
BHS Students Participate in the Holiday Spirit Week
Even Mr. Donaldson was in the Holiday Spirit with the vintage Grinch attire!

Healthy Ways to Handle Holiday Stress
Holiday stress is as common as the feelings of happiness and merriment that we all feel this time of year. Being mindful of what is triggering your stress and some ways you can manage it healthily can certainly help to brighten your spirit throughout this most joyous, yet busy time. The FAFSA is available now!!!!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2025-26 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are at least eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources with you and your family as we receive it!
The Ohio Department of Higher Education would like to share that the U.S. Department of Education has announced that the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for all families to complete. Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov.
For additional assistance with FAFSA completion, please visit itsforyou.org, and look under the “Looking for FAFSA Help?” section for more information
Updated Scholarship List:
Another option to look at opportunities for additional funding for college is by applying for scholarships. BHS Guidance updates this list regularly as new scholarships are shared with us. Here is a link to the most recent list that is shared with all seniors:
