Dates to Remember
NAIDOC Week
Held across Australia from 7-14 July 2024, NAIDOC Week will celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud. The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Next week, in recognition of NAIDOC Week, our classes will participate in activities that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements. It will also be an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society. Activities include a NAIDOC Liturgy, Damper Making, Arts, Crafts and Music.
Reports
On Wednesday 26th June (Week 11), the student reports will be made available online to families through SEQTA. These reports contain specific information relating to each individual student’s achievement at this point in time. I encourage you to spend time with your child/children, going through their report, to celebrate the successes and work to be done to achieve even better results. The teachers here at Queen of Apostles have spent a great deal of time gathering data and writing individualised comments so you have an accurate picture of where each student is at. I would like to thank them for their time and commitment to this task.
Holidays
Next Friday afternoon Term 2 will come to a close. There have been some wonderful learning opportunities for all students this term and I have been very impressed with the way they have embraced the challenges that have come their way. Please note that Monday 15th July is the start of Term Three.
Premier's Reading Challenge
The Premier's Reading Challenge is on again this year and runs from Monday 6th May to Friday 6th September. To register simply go to premiersreadingchallenge.wa.edu.au
I encourage you to nominate and read as many books as you can during the time period.
Good Luck!
Best Wishes

Dates for 2024
Hi URStrong Families.
It has been great to hear of the lessons about friendships happening in our classrooms. I hear teachers talking about how they are using URStrong language when dealing with 'Friendship Fires' that happen from time to time.
One excellent strategy to deal with conflict at school or at home is called 'Talk It Out'. This is one of the important steps in the 'Friend-o-cycle' (attached) that I and other teachers have been encouraging students to do. It helps address the issue and leads to 'forgive and forget' so that relationships can become 'closer and stronger'.
With time and practice our aim is to make this action a good habit that comes easier to apply when needed. We welcome you to encourage your children to 'talk it out' at home ;)
