Thanksgiving Prayer
Grateful for each hand we hold
Gathered round this table.
From far and near we travel home,
Blessed that we are able.
Grateful for this sheltered place
With light in every window,
Saying welcome, welcome, share this feast
Come in away from sorrow.
Father, mother, daughter, son,
Neighbor, friend and friendless;
All together everyone in the gift of loving-kindness.
Grateful for whats understood,
And all that is forgiven;
We try so hard to be good,
To lead a life worth living.
Father, mother, daughter, son,
Neighbor, friend, and friendless;
All together everyone, let grateful days be endless.
Grateful for each hand we hold
Gathered round this table.
( Mary Chapin Carpenter - Thanksgiving Song Lyrics)
From The Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to gather with family and friends and reflect on the blessings of the last year. Many of us experience renewed hope and faith during the Thanksgiving holiday because we turn our eyes onto what is most important. I wish to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Over the past week or so our children have been collecting food items for the St. Vincent De Paul food bank. I wish to thank everyone for their donations to the food appeal this year.
Commitment to Family Agreement
I wish to remind everyone that if you have signed up for Participation on the Family Agreement that we expect all parents to be responsible and to fulfill their agreements. We have been following up with parents who have not been fulfilling their agreements. I do not feel that we should have to do this, but unfortunately we do. Parents who fail to meet their obligations will be transferred to the non-participation plan. Thanks to all those parents who are making every effort to fulfill their agreements.
Principal's Awards:
Congratulations to all those students who received Principal's Awards last Monday. It was wonderful to see so many students receive certificates. We would encourage all students to do their best and eventually to be able to be considered for these awards.
Music Program
We have been notified by Rhythm and Moves, our contractor for the PE and music programs, that Jenny McKenna will be going on maternity leave effectively from Thanksgiving. Her replacement will be Cathy Bleecker, and we wish her all the best as she joins our school community.
Gum
Please remember students are not permitted to chew gum while on school grounds.
God Bless,
Vincent Riener
Principal
SLE RECOGNITION
Ms. J's Journal
"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good..." - Psalm 100:4, 5a
True gratitude does not come naturally to young children. Young children are naturally egocentric. They consider themselves the center of the universe. The capacity for true gratitude develops as children grow and become aware of the positive contributions of the people and things in their lives. Gratitude is a skill to be learned and developed like many others.
What better time, then, to help children understand and express gratitude than in this holiday season. As your family comes together to celebrate Thanksgiving next week, encourage your children to recognize and talk about their blessings. The daily counting of blessings at mealtime or as part of a bedtime ritual can become a powerful reminder to your children of how lucky they are.
Also, don’t forget to take time to count your own blessings. The rush of daily life gets even more hectic around the holidays. Let’s not forget to remind ourselves of whom and what we are celebrating – and why.
Happy Thanksgiving!
All the best,
Miss J

Thanksgiving Food Drive
As the holiday season approaches our hearts turn to thoughts of sharing time, meals, and gifts with our family and friends. In that spirit of sharing All Souls Student Council is conducting its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Donations will be distributed to local families in need of assistance during this holiday season.
What is needed most are large-sized canned goods like vegetables, canned meats, tuna, and chili, as well as dry items including pastas, beans, and rice. Costco and/or family size packages would be great but ALL donations will be greatly appreciated.
Our food collection will start Monday, November 7th and continue until Monday, November 21st. A collection table will be set up at the main stairwell landing near the school office. Feel free to drop of your donations, or students may also bring donations directly to their classrooms.
Together we can make a difference and help our neighbors in need. Thank you.
