December 2024
COME ONE, COME ALL....TO THE GREATEST SCHOOL OF ALL!!
Jill Fletcher, Principal & Jill Geran, Assistant Principal
Principal's Message
As we approach the end of the 2024 year, I want to remind everyone of the importance of consistent attendance. Every day in school counts, especially as we wrap up this semester's learning and prepare for the exciting challenges ahead in the new year.
December is a busy month filled with activities, service projects, and assessments, and each school day provides valuable opportunities for growth. I encourage our students to make the most of this time, as regular attendance helps build strong habits for success not only in academics but also in life.
Parents, your partnership is essential in ensuring your child arrives on time and ready to learn. If you need support or have questions about attendance policies, please feel free to reach out. Together, we can help every student reach their full potential.
Let’s finish the year strong and set the stage for a fantastic 2025!
Lexia Passages/Words
Every Friday, your student will be receiving a reading passage or words to practice at home. You will also find a monthly calendar on the "Return to School" side of their take home folder for you to initial each day that your student practices these passages or words. Please leave it in your student's folder for the teacher to check. The goal is to practice daily (20 minutes is best). There will be rewards/incentives for those students who are practicing at home.
CAPTURING KIDS' HEARTS
Capturing Kids' Hearts: Responsibility
In December, our focus in the Capturing Kids' Hearts program is all about responsibility. Responsibility is the willingness and ability to take ownership of our thoughts, words, and actions. We have a responsibility to our school, family, and community to be accountable for our choices and how they impact ourselves and others.
This month, we're challenging students to reflect on their experiences and take responsibility for how they choose to learn and grow from these experiences. We want to partner with parents to grow and develop your child's sense of responsibility.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!
Want to be an Eastside Hallway Hero?
Hallway Heroes are volunteers who help provide support at our building. Some Hallway Heroes open car doors in the morning or afternoon, volunteer in the workroom helping teachers, read to students, and even help out during lunch.
Hallway Heroes must pass all district required background checks. They must also follow district and building-level policies and procedures and demonstrate professional conduct at all times. If you would like to sign up for Hallway Hero training, please contact Central Administration Office at 743-3563 or complete this form.
*If you have participated in Hallway Hero training previously, you do not have to participate in the training again. However, you will be required to pass a background check every year.
Eastside Behavior Matrix
Our Eastside Behavior Matrix is a tool used to define expected behaviors in various settings throughout the school environment. The matrix helps foster a positive, predictable, and safe environment, which enhances learning by promoting consistent behavior throughout the school day.

EASTSIDE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS!
Every birthday is special! You are welcome to send nonfood items (erasers, pencils, bookmarks, etc.) to celebrate your child’s actual birthday, but we must reserve store bought food items for our monthly party. Please help us by not asking to send food items on other days! This is in accordance with Section 5.02.04 of the Arkansas Nutrition Standards Rules.
