If your child doesn't bring a helmet, one will be provided. Mrs. Thompson would love more volunteers to help; please sign up here. Volunteers must have a Level 2 background check on file.
Bruin Dash!
We had such a fun day here with Bruin Dash today! Kids ran so many laps and had a great time. We have the best PTA who pours so much into our students and staff. It's a huge undertaking and so many parents donated their time, energy and resources. Thank you to the PTA for our delicious lunch from Perillo's and thank you to all parents, families, neighbors and friends who donated!
Student Services Fee
Although we no longer charge textbook rental fees, parents are responsible for paying $30 Student Services Fees for each student. This helps us cover costs for student t-shirts, classroom supplies and other student items. You can pay with cash or check (made out to PPS), or you can pay online at www.linqconnect.com. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter!
College Go Week
To celebrate College Go Week, we will have the following dress up days:
Monday, 9/23: The future is bright; wear neon
Tuesday, 9/24: Follow your dreams; wear pj's
Wednesday, 9/25: Alumni day; wear college gear
Thursday, 9/26: Teamwork makes the dream work; wear Bruin gear
Friday, 9/27: Dress for success; for $0.50, dress like your future career (Riley fundraiser)
Chromebook Protection Plan
You should now be able to access your students to register them for the Chromebook Protection plan. We encourage parents to enroll their child's chromebook in the protection plan, but it is not mandatory.
If you would like to enroll in the chromebook Damage Protection through One2One Risk Solutions, please follow the directions below. This protection policy will limit the amount you will be held responsible for in the event that your child’s Chromebook is damaged. We want to make sure that all parents/guardians understand the potential financial costs associated with not enrolling. If you elect to not enroll in the Chromebook Damage Protection, you must complete the Damage Waiver Rejection Form. Even if you have enrolled in the past, you must do so each year.
If you would like to enroll the Chromebook Protection Plan through One2One Risk Solutions, please do so ASAP by completing the following steps:
Go to www.one2onerisk.com.
Click the option “Enroll My Device”
Select Indiana, North West Hendricks School Corporation, and your child’s school name and click Next.
Enter your child’s Student ID and click Search. Your child’s Student ID can be found in the schedule portion of your parent harmony account. Your student should also be able to provide this student code by logging into their harmony account.
Confirm that you have selected your child’s name and click Next.
Follow the remaining prompts to complete the personal information and make your $20.00 payment.
See this flyer with screenshots to help with the above process.
Label Personal Items
Please label all items (water bottles, lunch boxes, sweatshirts, etc.) that you're sending in to school with your child. Things get lost, misplaced, and set down all the time and it's so much easier to find the owner when items are labeled. Thank you!
Use Caution in our Parking Lot
Please remember to drive very slowly into and throughout our parking lot. Arrival and dismissal times are very busy, and there are kids entering and exiting vehicles and walking through the lot. We always want to keep your children safe here at school.
School Attendance is Important
Being at school on a regular basis is so crucial for our kids. Other than during times of illness, we strongly encourage parents to send their kids to school every day. Please see the attached information on how chronic absenteeism negatively impacts students' learning.
2024-25 North West Hendricks School Calendar
Attendance Policy
As a reminder, our attendance policy is that parents/guardians must call the school's attendance line (317-994-2100, option 1) if your child is not at school for any reason. When you call in, please leave your child's name, their teacher's name, and reason for the absence. If no phone call is received within 24 hours of the absence, it will be recorded as an unexcused absence. It is our policy to send a child home who has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher. The child should remain at home until he/she has been fever-free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
Volunteering
We are excited to welcome visitors and volunteers back into our learning spaces. If you plan to volunteer in the classroom or for a field trip this year, please complete the Safe Visitor Volunteer Background check. All volunteers MUST have an active Level 2 status on file. Please click this link for more information and to complete your application: Safe Visitor Application
Please let your student’s classroom teacher know your availability and desire to help!
Pick-up Reminders
Please be aware that parents must notify the office each time anyone else will be picking up their student(s). Listing emergency contacts in Harmony does not automatically give those individuals permission to pick up your student. (Those numbers are necessary for us to be able to reach someone close to you in the event of an emergency.) If someone (other than a parent or guardian) is picking up your child, please send in a note to school, call us at 317-994-2100, or email Leslie Thompson at thompsonle@hendricks.k12.in.us. Thanks for your cooperation and support.
A Note from the Nurse, Mrs. Niemann
All medication must be brought in with an adults. Medication may not be sent in your child's backpack. We have forms in the nurse's clinic that must be filled out prior to us administering medication.
