Personal Electronic Devices
In response to the Ministerial Order from the Alberta Government, and in accordance with Buffalo Trail Policy (304BP) and Administrative Procedure (303-1AP) which indicates children and students may not use personal devices during instructional time, Innisfree Delnorte School has decided to take a proactive approach to assisting our students in meeting the expectations of our government and the school division.
In our elementary classrooms, it will be expected that no personal devices are sent to school at all.
In our Grade 7-12 classrooms, during instructional times, including Video Conference classes and Learning Hub designated learning times, students will be expected to place their personal devices in a pocket chart within their classroom learning space or in the office. We feel this proactive approach helps students store their device in a manner that is safe from theft or damage, as well as limits the compulsion or temptation to use the device during instructional times. If you feel it will be difficult for your child to follow these guidelines, please have them leave their personal devices at home to provide them with the most positive school experience possible. Personal devices can be used at break times.
Additionally, our Chromebook carts will only be accessible to students for educational purposes as directed by classroom teachers.
Buffalo Trail will be blocking access to social media on school internet and on school devices.

Student Learning and Engagement
Grade 4/5/6 Adventures in Learning!
Our Grade 4/5/6 students have been actively engaged in their learning! They made ice cream floats to investigate solids, liquids, and gasses at play. They have also been sorted into houses by the sorting hat and received an invitation to Hogwarts School as they delve into their book study of Harry Potter.
Universal Visits from the BTPS Learning Team in Grade 1/2/3!
Through the year, our SLP and OT services are doing universal visits with our Grade 1/2/3 to reinforce important skills in the classroom such as turn taking, listening closely to instructions, using a tri-pod pencil grip, and various other developmental skills!

Career Counsellor Corner
Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of Career Corner!
Across the division, students are gaining valuable experience through various programs such as work experience, RAP, and the Green Certificate. Additionally, there are dual credit courses, CTS courses, and university transfer courses available. If you'd like more information about any of these programs, please visit your school office or feel free to email me at vince.saretsky@btps.ca.
We also have several upcoming opportunities:
Career Fair at JR Robson: In April, JR Robson will host a career fair in partnership with ELAA. Several post-secondary institutions will be represented, providing a great opportunity for students to explore their options. This event will take place on Tuesday, April 8th from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. More details will be shared soon, and schools will be invited, so please check with your school's office for further information.
Try a Trade: On Wednesday, April 30th, 2025, the Lloydminster Construction Association will host the annual "Try a Trade" event at the Lloyd Exhibition Grounds from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. This event, aimed at Grade 10 students, will feature over 20 exhibitors, providing hands-on opportunities for students to explore trades. Schools will be bringing students to Lloydminster for this exciting event.
Post-Secondary Tour at Lakeland College: Tentatively scheduled for Monday, May 5th, there will be a post-secondary tour, focused on Grade 9, at our valued partner, Lakeland College (Lloydminster campus). A detailed schedule will be shared at a later date.
Additionally, I want to share information about the Youth Internship Incentive Program from Careers the Next Generation. This program offers financial support to offset expenses related to youth employment, including wages, mentorship, and training. More details will be available in January, including information for both employers and students on how to access this support.
