SCS LEARNING FRAMEWORK (NOVEMBER 9 - 24)
At the Strongsville Board of Education meeting last week, the majority of the Board voted to continue to keep all PRESCHOOL/ELEMENTARY school students in school 5 days a week from Monday, November 9th through Tuesday, November 24th, which coincides with our Thanksgiving Break. Students at the MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL will be in the Blended Learning framework during this same time period (November 9-24). SMS and SHS students will follow this Green/White calendar
The decision for the learning framework covers the next two and a half weeks and no changes to the learning framework described above will occur prior to Thanksgiving Break. The Board of Education is scheduled to meet on November 19th to discuss and determine the learning framework for the week of November 30th.
SCS RESPONSIBLE RESTART COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE
Our District has created the SCS Responsible Restart Comprehensive Guide - one document in one location outlining our District’s policies and procedures. This document should be used as a guide, allowing you to quickly find answers to your questions. The guide can also be found at www.strongnet.org/restart.
As we have seen throughout the pandemic, factors can change on a daily basis and this Guide will remain adjustable and flexible to respond to state and local health guidelines.

Strongsville City Schools is now hiring motivated, energetic, part-time professional substitute school bus drivers. This position features great pay ($16.19 per hour), flexible hours, no holidays, and is very rewarding. Requires a CDL Class B, with SP endorsement - TRAINING IS AVAILABLE!

MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. DIANE HEIDT, SPEECH PATHOLOGIST AT KINSNER & WHITNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Mrs. Diane Heidt is a Speech Pathologist at Kinsner and Whitney Elementary Schools and has worked in our District for 15 years. Throughout her SCS career, she has helped students at the Early Learning Preschool, Muraski, Kinsner, and Whitney. Prior to her time with SCS, she spent six years at the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Mrs. Heidt is a graduate of Strongsville High School (Class of 1993) and is raising her family in the house she grew up in! Both of her children also attend Strongsville City Schools. Mrs. Heidt has both an undergraduate and graduate degree from Cleveland State University.
“For as many students I have had the pleasure of teaching in the past 21 years, they have taught me much more than I ever could teach them. The students have taught me everything from the dietary habits of zombies, to the latest dance moves, to the true meaning of patience and perseverance. I believe I am a better person because of the talented people I have worked with, the supportive parents I have met, and the students I have come to know. I truly love what I do,” said Mrs. Heidt.

SHS LADY MUSTANGS VARSITY SOCCER TEAM PLAYS FOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TONIGHT (11/13)
The Strongsville High School Varsity Girls Soccer Team battles Lewis Center Olentangy for the Division I State Championship TONIGHT (Fri. 11/13) at 7:00pm in Columbus. The Lady Mustangs are a perfect 19-0 on the season, and have recorded an amazing 14 shutouts. It's the program's 9th appearance in the State Finals, where the Lady Mustangs have earned 4 State Championships (1998, 2002, 2005, 2011). OPT IN FOR TEXT MESSAGES FROM SCS
With the abundance of emails that we all receive on a daily basis, and some being directed to spam or becoming buried in other folders in your email account, it sometimes leaves you without knowing an email was sent. One way to address this issue is to send a text that alerts an email has been sent. Although our texting option is not new for the district, families must opt in to receive our texts. SHS SOPHOMORE JULIA ISHAM FINISHES 11TH AT CROSS COUNTRY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MEET
Congratulations to current SHS sophomore Julia Isham, who finished 11th at last week’s Girls Cross Country State Championship Meet, with a time of 18:29.1. Julia averaged 5:56.6 per mile and was only 30 seconds off the first place finisher. Julia, the Greater Cleveland Conference Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year, has qualified for All-Ohio recognition based on her finish at last week’s State Championship Meet. Congratulations Julia!

This program provides financial aid to families in Cuyahoga County with K-12 students by distributing 10,000 free computers and 5,000 hotspots through a partnership with participating Cuyahoga County and Cleveland Public Libraries. Great Lakes Science Center Learning Lab
Great Lakes Science Center’s new Learning Lab program supports working parents who need daytime childcare for their school-age children. The program provides a safe, supportive environment where children can do their schoolwork virtually. Many of the Science Center’s health and safety procedures for programming during the pandemic were developed for Camp Curiosity, which served more than 1,000 children this summer.
