We Before Me Edition 10: October 15th-18th
Dear WES Team,
As we move into Week 10 of the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on how our community has truly embodied the "We Before Me" vision. Whether it’s in the classroom, during extracurricular activities, or even in how we approach challenges, the spirit of teamwork and unity continues to guide us forward.
At Wharton Elementary, we believe that we all rise when we support each other. I’ve seen teachers working closely in their grade-level teams, planning lessons together, and sharing best practices. Students, too, are helping one another—whether through peer tutoring or simply showing kindness in the hallway. This collective approach not only strengthens us as a community but also shows our students the power of collaboration.
This past week, I’ve seen excellent examples of how purposeful planning and teamwork have made a difference in our students’ learning. Teachers are continuing to meet during PLCs, diving into the curriculum and looking for ways to implement lessons with fidelity. Your dedication to every student’s success is truly inspiring! Together, we will continue to make gains, supporting each child to reach their full potential.
As we roll out tutorials, clubs and UIL, I want to thank everyone who has volunteered to sponsor a club, UIL and teach tutorials. These opportunities allow our students to bridge academic gaps and explore their interests while building bonds with peers and teachers. If you are interested in sponsoring or helping with a club, please let us know! The more opportunities we offer, the more we grow as a community.
This week also demonstrated our commitment to being flexible and adjusting when necessary. From managing changes in schedules to ensuring all students get the support they need, you all continue to show resilience and dedication. This flexibility ensures that our students get the best possible learning experience every day.
As we head into the next phase of the school year, let's keep the momentum going. Continue to embody the "We Before Me" vision in everything we do, whether in classrooms, during planning, or at after-school events. Together, we will continue to grow, not only academically but as a unified, supportive community.
Thank you, families and staff, for your commitment to this vision. I am proud to work alongside each of you.

Wharton ISD Elementary Nutrition Program
Exciting News: Daily Fruit for Students!
We are thrilled to continue our "Fruit a Day" program! Each day, students will receive a fresh fruit at the end of the school day to encourage healthy eating habits and the enjoyment of nutritious foods.
Here’s how it works:
- Daily Fruit Distribution: Every student will receive a different fruit and enjoy.
- Taste Exploration: Teachers will guide students in learning about the fruit of the day, helping them expand their taste buds and try new things!
- Fun Learning Activities: Teachers will also go over interactive activity sheets with the students, which are designed to educate them on the nutritional benefits of fruits and vegetables.
We hope this program will encourage students to develop a lifelong love for healthy, delicious fruits. Let’s work together to inspire our kids to make nutritious choices! A folder of fruit activities are available on WES is the Best Resource link WES Nutrition Lessons
