Superintendent's Spotlight
December 10th, 2024
Mashpee, A Connected Community
Since I began my role in July, I have been struck by Mashpee's strong sense of connectedness. This has been particularly evident in the past few weeks, with a wealth of community outreach initiatives from all corners of our town. I would like to start by acknowledging the groups in our schools, especially the Key Club, a Kiwanis service club at the Mashpee Middle-High School. They organized a drive to fill the school’s care closet and a coat drive that concluded on Wednesday. Additionally, other coat drives were held by the Family Resources Centers of Cape Cod, the Mashpee Police Department, and the Recreation Department, which organized food drives and Thanksgiving meals.
As we enter the holiday season, the Mashpee Boys and Girls Club is leading a toy drive, and the Mashpee Middle High School is organizing a backpack drive to support those experiencing homelessness in our area. The overwhelming thoughtfulness and generosity we have witnessed make Mashpee a remarkable community. Please know that the Mashpee Public Schools proudly supports these efforts, and you can find more information in the weekly “What’s Happening Wednesday” School Status Connect announcement.
In closing, serving as your Superintendent in this incredible community is a privilege!
Resolving Issues and Complaints
Although we have very few issues to resolve, an established process is essential to ensure access and quick resolution. Furthermore, speaking to the party closest to the problem can solve most situations quickly and completely.
We encourage everyone to attempt to resolve their issue first with the person closest to the situation. This could be the teacher if it occurred in the classroom, a club advisor, or a coach. If the matter remains unresolved, we ask that it be escalated to include both the individual involved and their immediate supervisor. The vast majority of issues can be resolved at this level. In rare instances where they are not, the matter will be escalated further, including all previous parties and someone from the central office. This process ensures that concerns are addressed swiftly and effectively, and the community's support for this process is unwavering.
