HALO NOTES
St. Louis Catholic High School - Thurs. Sept. 5, 2024
Understanding the Gift of Prophecy
As stated in Randy Clark and Mary Healy’s book The Spiritual Gifts Handbook, “Prophecy is speaking a message inspired by the Holy Spirit, especially for the ‘upbuilding and encouragement and consolation’ of others (1 Corinthians 14:3). Paul regards prophecy as exceptionally important because of its power to build up the Church. It is the only gift that appears every time he lists the charisms. A prophetic word can build up by arousing people’s faith, deepening their understanding, stirring them to worship or piercing their hearts with conviction of sin (see 1 Corinthians 14:24-25).” “Prophecy is distinct from teaching in that teaching usually involves a prepared and organized presentation, but prophecy is a spontaneous message directly inspired by the Holy Spirit. Because it is from God, prophecy has the power actually to bring about that which it proclaims–whether conviction, or counsel, or consolation or comfort. It releases God’s revelation into the present context.”
Our friend Kevin McCall will be on campus this upcoming Monday (9/9/24) and these are the reasons we ask Kevin to come and pray with the members of our school. For many, it is their first tangible experience with the supernatural, and most leave knowing that there really is a God, and He really does hear their prayers!
If you would like your son or daughter to have the opportunity to pray with Kevin, please sign the permission slip, and email the signed form back to Mr. Wyninger.
Uniform Policy - Raincoats
Today was one of the first days where we saw multiple students coming to school with rain jackets, and rightly so due to the rain we have received the last couple days. But please help your students remember that the only rain jackets that are permitted are sold through Southern Drifter, so if your student needs to wear one, please order one with them.
Office Hours - Tomorrow (Friday)
Due to the House Retreats the Front office hours for Friday will be 8-12pm
Student Handbook Contracts
Paperwork that was distributed during orientation is now overdue. Please remind your student to turn in their signed forms to the front office. We appreciate your students' efforts in adhering to the new policies and procedures on campus.

ACADEMICS
FACTS - Progress Reports Emailed on Sept. 13
Complete these steps to set up your FACTS account to view grades. The parent AND the student will each need to create an account. Please email Mrs. LeJeune with any issues.
Academic Support
Whenever a student begins to experience academic difficulty in a specific course, he/she should contact his/her teacher immediately to request extra help. Teachers may also request with a 24- hour notice that certain students report to the teacher for extra help either before school, at lunch, or after school. Such a request takes precedence over all other activities. At times, the counselor may also contact a student concerning a need for extra help. St. Louis Catholic High School offers weekly Academic Study Hall throughout the school year, free of charge for any student, regardless of grades.
Avoiding Plagiarism
It is essential that our students understand plagiarism and its repercussions to support the growth of their writing and research skills. During the first week of classes, our English teachers spent time discussing plagiarism and emphasized the value of originality and integrity in their work. We are giving our students vital skills that will help them throughout their academic careers by teaching them how to properly cite sources and encouraging them to develop their own writing voice. Click here to review the Academic Integrity Policy and Plagiarism Contract in the SLCHS Parent- Student Handbook.

Service Academy Day - September 7, 2024
As a reminder, the offices of Senators Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy, Speaker Mike Johnson and Representatives Garret Graves, Clay Higgins, Julia Letlow and Troy Carter will be hosting Service Academy Day at Pennington Biomedical Research Center on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
